Whaaaaaaaaaa, people can be really really rude. WE have talked about this before. You know your ring is perfect. PPL will always make some kind of comments. Maybe her marriage sucks, who knows. I have an aunt like this. I didnt wear my grandmothers jewelry on Christmas , because she would of said something really rude about me having it and not her and probally asked for it of off my body. Smile big and be happy girl.

Gorgeous ring! Wear it and enjoy it!

I had a similar experience though it wasn't about the size of the rock. rather it was about how SMALL the rock was!

I'm very particular about design and did not want an engagement ring. I rarely wear rings and only wanted a wedding band.

I saw an amazing design, very unique and modern. DH paid a lot for two rings because of the workmanship. My ring had a tiny diamond.

My relatives complained loudly within earshot when they saw my ring. They were even more horrified that I paid more than what they perceived the ring was worth.

:lolots:

I ignored them!

as my wonderful mother would say, " Flash the ring and keep on stepping, let them cry a river if they want to" lol That's exactly what she told my older sister after she got engaged... sounds like sour grapes too me, i mean big rings arent everyone's cup of tea but most folks would say congrats and leave it at that

I've just got my ring on Christmas and literally on cloud nine. Then my bf's friend asked me how much. I told the price. She asked me back...why did I have to get "a diamond" in the sense that why did people have to pay this much for this useless thing. Plus, she told me that she went to an engagement party yesterday and the girl there got 4-carat diamond ring.

I didn't say a word. I didn't ask for the diamond ring. My bf himself wanted to buy me one. I am super happy with what I have and no one can ever make me feel otherwise.

Wow...I wonder what rude thing the friend said to the girl with the 4-carat diamond! I can't believe how tacky some people are! :wtf:

Actually I don't believe that she meant something harm. I knew her for a long long time because she is one of my bf's best friends. It was just sometimes something's not right about what she said and all I do is ignoring it.

Ok so I do not have a huge ring compared to alot of the ladies here(2.21ct)... but I guess its bigger than alot of people around here....?

Anyway, so it was one of my fiances cousins baptisms today and the first time we have seen alot of our family members since we got engaged about 2 weeks ago. So of course everyone is asking to see and saying nice things(being polite) and saying congrats. Then one of the wives of a family member came over and said 'Ohhh its beautiful... too big though.. I am just fine with my small stone..." LOL What the heck is that?? Who says that? Keep in mind this is the same woman who when I first met her, was wearing her fake LV bag claiming it was real when it was a bad fake(I was also carrying LV and of course did not point out that hers was fake). I was so stunned by what she said I didnt even respond but it just seemed so RUDE!! Just had to vent because everyone had nothing but nice things to say and then she had to spoil it(or atleast try). I told my DF because of course he didnt hear her say that, and he said she was probably just jealous... but still!

So I guess my question is.. has anyone said anything rude about your ering??? What happened to the saying : if you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all?!

Definitely sounds like rudeness. Relatives can be so awkward !

please dont let this silly woman spoil your joy - from what you say she is lacking in the brain and belongings/finances dept - so clearly she is envious of what you have - i go through similar things with people and you have to try to ignore it and understand shes jealous the problem lies with her not you and she is rude to make these comments but all you can do is to ignore/pity her and enjoy what you have...........
