Round or Princess Cut?

Princess cut solitaires do NOT look good on my hand. I found that round brilliant stones looked best on me.

You definitely get more sparkle with a round, but I've found that princess cuts are MUCH cheaper than ideal cut rounds. So you can usually buy a bigger princess cut than you can a round.

I have a round in my solitaires but I have a five-stone or half eternity made with princess cuts which I just love. So it depends.

I agree with the poster who said to try what looks good on your hand. Different shapes look good on different fingers. Marquise looks the best on my hand (although the poster is right who said you can date the ring by the shape and marquises are from the 80's. Princess cuts are from the early 2000's and cushion cuts are the latest trend--which I personally don't like much.)

I will always pick a round. I'm not a huge fan of princess cuts. Yes, some are fabulous, but I think they lack the fire and sparkle of a round cut stone. I think they almost look like of flat in a way.
