I think it's too hard to tell when you are comparing a small accessory to a full-sized bag. When I saw RC versus my Coquelicot PT, there was a definite difference!! RC is much lighter (not as dense a Red), and had slight pink undertones whereas Coquelicot is a 'clean' Red.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying. But I can't believe that even in a small accessory the color would be so close to Coq.
I remember you once explaining to me why the color of my Cassis WE was different than my Cassis City, different lots.
Maybe the same thing happened here. This lot is just closer to Coq?

Could be, could be ...

Holy guacamole .. yeah, they all do look the same which is very weird.

I was at the Balenciaga SCP boutique the other day, and looked at the Rouge Cardinal (yet) again, and it definitely did not match my Coquelicot! The Rouge Cardinal that I've seen (and I've seen quite a few now), all have a definite pink/rose undertone. IMO, the Coquelicot is the closet to a 'true' Red that Balenciaga has done for years (although I know some folks feel that the 2012 version had more orange undertones).

However, I can speak from experience re: differences in batches. Even when I was in Boston, there were a few stores that carried Balenciaga, and I would "compare" the bags ('cos I was always looking for the best leather :graucho:!). One store always got their merchandise later (as they were a smaller boutique), and that is where I would see slight color/hue differences.

Sadly, it is also a distinct possibility that .. in fact, you may have Coquelicot versus Rouge Cardinal .. I've seen Balenciaga make this mistake before. Heaven forbid their staff is knowledgeable about the colors! :nogood:

This is excactly how I would describe the difference between these two colours (comparing with '11 Coquelicot).

This info is good to know. :smile1: I was thinking of hunting down a RC RH City but do not really want anything that looks like a PINK bag. Would either of you say that RC is at all like '08 Ruby?? I would be happy if that was the case. Didn't Ruby have some pink tones? I have seen Ruby IRL - I sold my Ruby GGH City last Spring and only remember that it was definitely darker than my Coquelicot ('11) Velo that I still own.

The coin purse and Part time were both purchased directly from Bal.
The mini click was purchased from Departement Feminin in France.

Funny thing though, is that the mini click is the only ones that shows a slight pink undertone. You can see it if comparing very closely. I don't think the difference is enough to call it another color, but at least there is a difference.

But, the coin purse and part time are the same color. So either Bal screwed up and sent me Coq. like you said, but with the 2013 year card, or they're intentionally trying to pass Coq. off as RC.

I didn't return it because I love the color so as long as I keep it, it's all good..
I guess the issue would arise if I tried to sell it as RC. No one would believe it.

The 'shade' of RC might be similar to Ruby in that it does have a slight pink tone. However, RC is nothing like Ruby imo. Ruby is this stunning, dense/deep, blue/pink/red. A truly gorgeous red. I'd say RC is a faded version of Ruby with more of a pinky/rose tone instead of Ruby's pink/blue tone.
Also, I think RC is all together lighter than Ruby.

I do not have Rouge Cardinal or Coqueliot, but I agree with Ceejay regarding the batches. I was looking for a Bleu Mineral part-time in the beginning of the S/S '13 season in Japan. Unfortunately I could not get the leather I wanted. But when I went to the Hongkong store during a trip, I found the perfect one. I asked the store manager. He said it depends on where the Bal stores order their bags (Bal has 3 manufacturing plants in Italy) and the batches of bags they get.

I've already experienced this with my two Cassis bags. The colors are slightly different but they're still Cassis. Neither Cassis bag looks like Bordeaux.

What happened here is not the same. These are supposed to be two different colors, seasons apart. Yet, my bag and coin purse look exactly the same. My click has a slight difference that could be attributed to the different batches, but even the clicks color is closer to Coquelicot, than RC.

Like I said, I can't imagine re-selling a coin purse, but if I did, I can't call it RC and sell it in good faith. Regardless of what the year card says- my eyes say Coquelicot. Now, imagine if it were a bag. I'm sure this happened to someone and they probably don't even know.

Definitely not like Rubisse, which had a blue undertone (kind of like Rouge Theatre but more red than the Rouge Theatre).
