Rolex or Cartier love bracelet?

Sorry mods, started my own thread!

Hi ladies, I've been thinking of getting a Rolex recently. I'm eyeing a vintage all-gold oyster perpetual datejust with diamond markers. I would likely have to trade in my 4-diamond yg Cartier love bracelet to get this though. And besides, I probably wouldn't wear a love together with the Rolex. Do you think the Rolex is worth giving up my love for? I should add that I'm not usually a watch person, but there is something just so sophisticated about a Rolex. TIA!

I think it depends on which one you like best, and which one you would get the most use out of. Do YOU think it is worth it to trade your Love bracelet for a Rolex, especially if you're not a watch person?

As for myself I would pick the Rolex, however I am a watch person. I don't carry my cell phone with me so I'm always in need of the time lol. I also recently had the option to trade my Tudor for a Rolex but I couldn't do it - my Tudor is so "me", it just wouldn't have been worth it to let go of it for the sake of just having a Rolex.

Also consider the servicing of the Rolex. This needs to be done every number of years and can go from $500-800. Yours is vintage so hopefully it's been taken great care of, but may need additional work. Also is it automatic movement? Winding a watch gets old for some people after a while.

Good luck!

Great advice from emilymg. Personally I say keep your Love but then I am not a watch person, at least not to the extent where I would be happy to pay any additional maintenance costs at intervals after the initial outlay to buy the watch. I have a Love and adore it.

If you really love the Rolex could you perhaps save for it separately and/or sell some unwanted or unused items to help fund it?

Great advice! I hadn't even considered that I would need to factor in maintenance costs... The Rolex I'm eyeing is at least 20 years old, so I guess more maintenance might be needed... This Might change my decision...

well by the rate of Cartier price increases holding on to your love is perhaps the best policy. I would probably also rather sell your unused purses in order to get the Rolex. for me both are important pieces.
