Bait and switch is a common scam as I’m sure you know, and it’s happened (or nearly happened) to me. I got a diamond switched out for moissanite in my case. Luckily for me, I’d had my stone tested at the same shop when I initially took my ring in to be mended, and I got them to check it when I went to collect it. Sure enough… bait and switch. Lucky I didn’t walk out of the shop, or I wouldn’t have had a leg to stand on.
