Hi ladies, many years ago, I inherited a 1986 Lady Datejust Chevrolet Diamond Jubilee watch from my grandmother. It's 26mm, 18K yellow gold with diamond markers and a Chevy logo face (no box or papers). I never wear it, because I prefer midsize watches and stainless steel (all my jewelry is white metals). So I'd like to trade it in for a Rolex I will wear.

I've narrowed it down to these two. Both are midsize 31mm with pink dial and jubilee bracelet:

1. Stainless steel, smooth bezel, salmon pink dial, Roman numerals; I will get $1,000 cash back on this one.

2. Stainless steel, WG fluted bezel, salmon pink dial, diamond markers; I will owe $1,600 on this one.

I was really hoping for an even trade, but I am partial to the diamond markers, as I'd like to keep some element of the original watch. If I went with the diamonds, the trade-in value of the original would be $7,300; if I went with the Romans it would be $7,000.

What do you think? Should I go for the diamonds?

Yes!!! Go for the diamond markers and fluted bezel! That is the exact watch I want except I think I will go with a silver dial. It is sooo pretty with the pink dial, though!!!

I hadn't considered it an option before, but I could also get the fluted bezel (which I also prefer) with Roman numerals and probably come out even. But is it worth it to get the diamonds?

I recently tried on the one with fluted bezel and Roman Numerals, but I thought it looked more casual. I felt like the diamond markers would take the watch from casual to dressy wear better.
