Hi dears,
I know all of this are personal preferences but i’d like to hear your thoughts: My husband got me a 31mm stainless steel datejust with oyster bracelet as a push gift for our first child 10 years ago. I was 29 back then and i chose the style of the watch. My style is more on the sporty type like jeans, sandals or sneakers and a nice blouse on top- so i picked an oyster bracelet thinking its more down to earth(not shouting Rolex) and sporty. And i didn't want to do the two tone ones due to price difference + i thought its a bit old looking at the time. Just recently i dropped the watch and had a crack on the corner of its glass so now its being serviced. And the service told me it had some wear inside like less lubrication on the metals etc. I know it will be back looking brand new- but now i’m thinking maybe its the time for an upgrade thinking two tones are very in now even 36 mm and the jubilee bracelet shows less wear. But when i mentioned this to my hubby he was like it has sentimental value- my dream is to hopefully pass the watch to my children so i’m thinking maybe i should get it exchanged with a new watch- a jubilee bracelet so it doesnt show wear as much as my oyster. Let me know what you would do. Here are some photo references:

I would keep the watch. For the sentimental value (especially since your husband expressed disappointment) and I also prefer the 31 size on your wrist vs. the 36. But if you really want a two-tone with jubilee, maybe another present is in order :angel:

I would upgrade it since your current watch looks pretty similar to your new choices. My tastes have changed over the years and when I’ve moved on from a style, I don’t look back and don’t like having possessions sit in a closet unworn and unloved. Also, the salesperson at Rolex told me the jubilee bracelet hides scratches much better than oyster. I’m not overly sentimental though - and although my hubby doesn’t want me to sell his gifts, he knows if I sold something, it just means his love is being transferred from one item to another ;)

Thanks so much! Not in order though he only gets me nice gifts at my birthdays- its in March :)

Personally I do not like to exchange/return gifts, especially if it was something given to me a while ago by my husband, family, or close friend.

I understand if the gift was brand new/just given, and it wasn't to my personal tastes, or didn't fit right, or was a joke gift (that has happened before) :P so I'm okay with exchanging something like that.

However, if my husband was the one who wanted me to exchange and upgrade the watch, and really was pushing for it. I'd do it.

Like a few people said earlier, perhaps the best option would just to get a 2nd watch. I am totally up for that!

This is only my personal preference: oyster bracelet, single tone. I’m 53 and when I got my first rolex, two tone jubilee in 1985, it seemed like everyone had the same or an inspired one. I do mix metal jewelry but typically not in the same piece. If your DH is attached to the watch, you could always get a second one. But, unless you are a Rolex only person, there are many other options. This forum is very brand oriented rolex, Cartier, VCA, so there would be a nice argument for getting a Cartier two tone.

i thought about that too getting a gold cartier with leather bracelet for a little change. Thank you for your suggestion, I also think two tones look a little odd, but seeing them in so many friends and instagram influencers I hesitated about my decision.
