I just bought a Rolex Datejust a few months ago. The bracelet is a bit too long for my arm, as I can slide two fingers between the band and my arm when I wear it. I went to the jeweller who said that he can cut off some of the links. Has anyone of you done that to your watch and what would you recommend? I know it sounds ridiculous but I don't like the idea of damaging a Rolex bracelet.

Here is a pic of my watch in action. You can see it doesn't completely slide off my hand, but still.

I hope the jeweler meant that he would remove a few links by sliding out the pins that hold each link in place. You will be able to keep the removed links should you need them in the future. I don't own a Rolex, but that's how every watch I own is sized. I don't think I would allow someone to "cut" a Rolex! BTW-it's very pretty on you, congrats!

Right, they don't actually cut the band. The jeweler will simply remove several of the links that you can keep. In the future, if you'd like, you can put them back in :)

I own a couple of Rolex watches, the links can be removed. I suggest that you go to a Rolex AD to have it removed if the jeweller you went to doesn't know how to removed them.

I saw this thread title and thought NOOOOOOOOO don't saw it!!! they can definitely remove some links by removing the pins in between the links :smile1:

Thanks everyone for your recommendations and corrections. I will call the jeweller to see if he meant removing the pins rather than cut the bracelet. I have to say that removing the pins makes more sense, hahahah! :smile1:

I would definitely go to Rolex and ask them!

I had a jeweller cut off some links of my watch (just a $300 one, but still) and now it's damaged around the edges!

Don't risk anything!

I don't know much (or anything) about watches really but, they CUT off links? Why in the world would he do that over taking links out? It sounds barbaric lol

I didn't know it before then either. I just heard some strange noises... but thought I could trust the jeweller, but NO, NOTHING was fine.
