Last week I purchased a Rogue 25 in dark denim from the on-line sale. I took notice that the photo showed a 2nd generation Rogue, with a key clochette, while other colors only showed a hangtag, indicating they were 3rd generation. The clochette is one of my favorite parts of the Rogue and Ace, and one of the reasons why I chose the dark denim over the black, which appeared to be 3rd generation.

The bag arrived wrapped carefully and appears lovely and new. But oh no! there is no clochette, and no extra leather strip under the feet. It's a 3rd generation bag! Should I feel ripped off?

I spent most of the summer lurking on the Rogue Clubhouse thread before pulling the trigger on my first Rogue, a hot pink 25 with a sparkly sprinkle of flowers. Have enjoyed it so much that I felt it should have a sibling. And now, reading the many Rogue aficionado postings regarding the perceived quality differences in generation, I have convinced myself I have been sent inferior goods.

If I had not known the difference, I would be delighted with the bag.

Should it matter? Should I care? Where's my dang clochette?!?

If you are not 100% happy with it, I would recommend returning it - simple as that.

All that matters here is how you feel and which generation/version you wanted. I think if I have to convince myself to like a bag, then it truly wasn't meant to be.

It's too bad that the pictures didn't make it clear which bag you would be receiving, though.

I’m sorry to hear that on your Rogue. I had been looking at purchasing from the SAS and concerned about this as well. It seems as if Coach will reproduce older styles for SAS which I’m not a fan of. As other response said...don’t keep it if you are unhappy with it. I’m into the details as well.

Funny because I did exactly the same and thought the denim would be 2nd generation but decided to wait for the current coach retail sale and got my adorable Ellie. Definitely send it back if you are not satisfied. No need to let this haunt you if you keep the bag in your possession.

This was from coach.com and not outlet sale right?

I have 6 rogue 25s and two of them, chalk tea rose and black snakeskin whipstitch, are 3rd generation. I am not worried either of them are inferior to the others. The 25 is small enough that the extra leather strips on the bottom aren't really needed. But don't keep it if that bothers you too much.

This happened to me when I bought my black 19. The online image showed it with the cloche but none of them had it. I was definitely disappointed and I was not impressed with their help. They were very uninterested and pretty much said if I didn't like it to return it. I went into my local store and they were kind enough to give me an extra cloche they had in the back, although its not the smaller version the 19 should have come with it works fine. Maybe try your local store and see if they have an extra or if they have an older version of the bag.

You can't trust the online images of Rogues. Occasionally they will post a picture of a first gen Rogue with a lock and then the bag comes and there is no lock. That happened to me with my haircalf Souvenir Rogue. Sometimes pictures are taken from runway prototype bags and the bags shipped end up with different details.

That being said, some versions of Rogue are fine for me with the 3rd gen leather and no cloche. I use my graphite Metallic Rogue mostly when I go out to dinner or to a concert, etc, as a bigger "evening" bag, and I like the streamlined look without the cloche. I would never want a bag without the cloche for my everyday use though. So it depends on how you are going to wear it.

Of course if you are disappointed, you should definitely return it. I have found over the years that if I have initial doubts about a bag, it just sits in my closet until I get rid of it.

I think this may say that you should keep it. One thing that this forum does is cause a lot of "purse envy," lol. I would do as suggested and call Coach or a boutique and let them know you thought you were getting the cloche because it was in the picture and see what they say.

I was late to get into rogues and really wish I had a 1st gen. one - I love the lock and key fob and notice the leather is very thick - all of my rouges are 2nd gen. which are nice - I think I draw the line at the 3rd gen because the leather strip at the feet is missing and no more key holder - what are they going to take off next? I really wish they keep making the 1st gen - BUT - if you really love the bag I would keep it because I think rogues are some of the best quality bags Coach has ever made.

I also notice on the on-line sale the pictures show a lock and then no lock when you get the bag.
