Review of Lotuff bag

I wanted to post a quick note. I was really curious about the Tripp bag - after they launched the braided version.

As many of you are well aware, reviews of their bags are a little sparse on the internet. I was feeling a bit hesitant after this thread, but after a few months I was still quite interested in the bag.

I ended up ordering and thought I’d post some initial feedback. They were less responsive via email, so it took me some time to get my questions answered. It turned out I wanted something custom.

It is clear they are still really small as the questions were around making sure they could limit risk for something custom and set proper expectations.

After the details were squared away, they gave me an estimate and delivery window. I received my bag at the early end of the delivery window.

It looks like they were responsive to the feedback up thread about packaging. I received a large, unbranded dust bag.

So far fit and finish look great. The bag is a little larger than I expected (I got the big one) and the leather is actually softer than expected. Which is also great. I am excited about the bag and will post some pics and a review once I “settle in.”
Have you had a chance to take some photos of your custom order? How have you been liking the new bag?

It has been 8 months since I received my LockBox bag and I haven’t used it since April. I recently went onto the Lotuff website and saw that they no longer make this bag so I am glad that I have one since the shape and flap is different than a lot of flap bags out there.

The OnePiece turned out to be a bag that my co-worker didn’t want after all because of the openness of the bag. You see everything that is inside and things can fall out. As a result, I took the bag back and finally used it for the past two weeks and surprisingly, I have been enjoying it. For such a little bag, it is heavy but the plus side is that it is sturdy, and keeps its shape well. I am ignoring the numerous blemishes I disclosed back in the spring and ignoring the little pouch’s zipper since I don’t use the pouch that often.

Back to Lotuff’s website, they have discontinued quite a few designs, like the Belt bag, and discontinued a few color options. They have one new handbag named, Sol, that I like, and am considering purchasing. Since my sour experience earlier this year, it seems that they have changed some of their procedures, such as adding an “Availability” segment to the product to give the customer an idea on time expectation.

I took out the LockBox from storage and was going to use it when I noticed loose threading where the side of the flap meets the body of the bag. I haven't used this bag since April so it must have happened back then. Suffice to say, I won't consider buying another Lotuff bag. Perhaps my experience is unique and I hope others out there have had better experiences with their bags!

I'm not sure if I will either. My husband noticed a similar issue in a few marketing images with a tote bag I was considering. The corners are very worn "color has come off" on such a new model and the bag is totally ripped right across the body!!! Not sure if this is a defected model. I own a chestnut tripp II and the color has come off all the sides as well :( Might bring it to my husband's cobbler to get re-dyed.
