My 2 cents...I agree with your thought process. I've loved looking at the studded Selmas everyone else has purchased, but I, too, can't seem to pull the trigger and buy one. For some reason, it's not true love for me when I see them in person. And I've looked at them dozens of times in store in various colors. I finally decided that I'll stick with my plain Selmas.
The dark dune Hamilton is a MUST HAVE in my opinion. Dark dune is such a low key neutral that it really needs some extra pop with that gold hardware. It looks very plain on the Selma and Sutton to me.
Blush has its own thing going. I think it looks best on smaller bags, not large ones. I also think it's similar to dark dune in that it looks best on bags with a little something extra like extra hardware or a unique design. I think it might look better on the Hamilton than the Selma for the reason you stated. I've never seen it on the Hamilton, though, so have no reference here.
Good luck with your decision.![]()

I think it might be the price that's holding me back from cutting the tags. I HATE paying full price for bags because they always go on sale. I'm also skeptical about the studs possibly falling off later on. I guess I'll have to purchase the dd e/w hamilton again and compare them side to side at home.
Blush was just not love like I hoped it would be. I still haven't seen the hamilton in blush. Will hold off on this one until I see the hamilton irl.
I agree that maybe a comparison with the Hamilton is needed, I think both bags look great but dint have any stud bags to say if they get damaged. I just wanted to say that if it is the price holding you back it shouldn't. My husband calls me the bargain queen and naive!- he thinks that I believe all original selling prices! I don't but I do really enjoy getting a bargain, sometimes more than the item I purchase! I have only paid full price for 2 of my bags (navy medium selma satchel and mini chili selma). I think we can get too caught up in getting a bargain that we can forget the joy of actually getting the bag we want. Your husband will probably have been all pleased that he has got you the bag you have been admiring, maybe you should enjoy his gift and not worry about the fact that you may get it cheaper in a few months. I enjoy my two full price bags more than some of my bargains because they were really wanted and also presents. I am just trying to help you enjoy you bag if you choose it over the Hamilton, I do think the colour suits extra hardware and both these bags have that, I am a Selma girl rather than Hamilton so I would stck with the Selma but I did like the hamiltin in this colour.I think it might be the price that's holding me back from cutting the tags. I was just going to say I think you need to compare the two side by side IRL before making a decision. Both bags look so pretty in all of the pictures online. I KWYM re. Studs. I haven't used my blush studded messenger as much as I thought I would. I love it don't get me wrong. However I do worry about studs getting tatty over time.
So sad to hear that you're not loving Blush like you hoped. It looks beautiful in your pictures!

That's what I was trying to get across, because it was a gift you can still say you haven't paid full price for a bag and you get to enjoy a well thought out gift and beautiful bag!! It is different in the UK, getting the bag you want on sale is very rare and would be a huge risk as sales are few and far between as well as the fact that stock levels can be low so the bag you want sells out before it gets to sale. That means I have a different mindset about purchasing a bag I really want full price. I would find it harder to accept if I was in the US as it seems a lot of bags go on sale or stores have so many offers that it rare to pay full price. I would still compare with the Hamilton to be happy about the bag choice but choose the one you prefer and not let price come into it, especially if he would loose money on the shipping if you returned the Selma based on price. Either way you will end up with a lovely neutral bag that will last you a long time!Honestly I think the price is the main reason holding me back from moving in and enjoying her. Also I believe he paid extra to have it shipped faster which is a bummer because if I were to return her he wouldn't be refunded for that. I have yet to pay retail price for any of my bags. He was so thrilled that he had purchased it for me since he knew I had been admiring it forever now. Maybe I should just keep her and enjoy her after all she was a present it's not like I was the one to pay for it right?

It might be that blush is a little close to my skin tone so I feel like it washes me out. I'm going to try and use her for the next couple days to make my decision.
Good plan hon! Where will you sell her if you decide to sell?
I'm loving Blush with white, blue and summer bright's particularly at the moment. And I'm also pretty pale skin tone.
I would cherish it if he actually took the time to pick that out for you. There are ways you can keep from having that washed out look, by contrasting it against darker colors. That would really help. Anything can look good if you pair it with the right colors and accessories. You could even add a scarf to it or something like that.Honestly I think the price is the main reason holding me back from moving in and enjoying her.
