Return Requests/Cases

It's flawed both ways

I hit the request a return button for an item I purchased that had an undisclosed fault. I thought this was the fairer thing to do on the seller and give them the option.

So they sent me a snotty message saying I myself didn't accept returns which was by the by as I disclose all faults and take the full 12 pictures in good lighting etc etc.

So on the day I was allowed to ask ebay to step in they do......
Except they closed the case down in the sellers favour as I hadn't returned the item.... Wait for it.... That's because the seller hadn't agreed to accept the return and I had no address to return it to! So how was I supposed to return it????

So yesterday I spent 90 mins in various queues trying to appeal it..... Still haven't got through but the people I spoke to on the phone said they had increased call volumes this day.... I wonder why

Be warned the average wait time was 96 mins yesterday.

I did manage to get them to admit they hadn't said me the mentioned email or message asking me to return and there was no way I could see a return address.

So far it hasn't been hassle free at all from my end, with this garbage Fendi Spy bag I was sold. I have spent hours over a few phone calls to eBay since this past weekend. I was supposed to be able to escalate my case to the resolution center yesterday, and nothing came up. Every single Rep I spoke to, even the Escalation reps are completely clueless to this new policy. 3 hours were spent on hold yesterday alone, and another hour today. I was also told every by every single rep that I would be able to upload evidence, like photos. Once I FINALLY got someone that knew what the heck they were doing, it was escalated, and I cannot add any evidence. Just says they'll get back to us within 48 hours. This just sucks both ways for honest sellers and buyers. I've had it.

I received a bag today that is SNAD and requested a return for an item not as described. If the seller refuses, should I open a Paypal case instead of escalating the Ebay request since now Ebay is having problems with the return system? Or is that technically having two cases open? I'm not sure if the Ebay return request is the same as a case because it doesn't show up in the resolution center.

This is a good question, I would like to know too. I received a bag that SNAD. Seller accepted return (14 days return policy) so I requested for return.
It does not show up in the resolution center, and the seller is not responding, he usually quick with answering questions, etc. I was wondering should I open Paypal case if seller not respond. I hate to call eBay for answer, they just clueless.

Just like my case, so I had to upload my pictures outside of the return messaging system, would only let me do it via the normal message option. I asked the rep if the resolution team would look at the pictures..... They said 'probably' ...... Which is a Scary thought. Also the return option doesn't allow many characters, so I had to send 4 separate messages

Was promised a call back today from ebay as I couldn't get through to the resolution centre..... Well today in the UK is nearly over and still no call.....

Wow finally got through and appeal successful. Will be fully refunded at ebays expense as I've been advised not to send the item back

This must be a costly teething problem for them

Thanks.

Refund came through, however it appears the refund came from the sellers account. How can that be if they haven't had their item back? Or wonder if ebay suffer the loss?
I think ebay will eat the loss on small items. I've been refunded a couple of times on things under $25 or so. I doubt they would on more expensive things.
