It's gorgeous! I think the prominent prongs are good thing. They protect the surface of the diamond. Prongs also tend to wear down over time. If they're larger they won't wear as quickly and you can get many more years of enjoyment out of the ring. It is lovely! :love:

Thank you. That is reassuring. The prongs on the original ring were tab style, so I'm irritated that the jeweler made this change without consulting me. Initially, the new prongs seemed to look a bit unfinished and spiky to me, but now that I'm getting used to the change I have to say these little buttons are doing much more for the appearance of the stones than the tabs did.

I agree. I would be annoyed too at the design change because the jeweler probably just plucked a standard setting from the box. But I think the larger prongs do enhance the stone better than the original square prongs did. Wear it in pride! It's lovely!
