Reported!
Jazzy - you reported my lovely Cookie as a fake via MiniMabel but it is not a fake purchased from new - selling to raise funds to pay my Liphook Equine Hospital Bills and this was hopefully going to go a bit towards it. I am devastated. If you look at my feedback I am one of the most honest and genuine sellers, I really care about what I sell. Now you have done this is there anything I can do or have you really messed it up for me now. I am so upset that this has happened and that this lady would even consider it a fake. Perhaps you would be kind enough to come back to me. Thank you so much.

This is my bag and it is not a fake - purchased from new :-( Please could you come back to me, I am desperately trying to raise funds to pay off my Liphook Hospital bill for my horse and this was going to help a lot, well hopefully it was. Thank you xx
Hi millymollymoo - I am sorry, but your bag is not a genuine Mulberry Cookie Bayswater. Where did you buy it from? Do you still have the receipts and paperwork for it to be able to return it. MiniMabel.

As MiniMabel has stated, if the photos in your listing were all of the actual bag you are selling, it is counterfeit and there is no question. If an item is not counterfeit, or if there is any doubt, even 1% doubt, it is not reported. You could always get it authenticated formally by Authenticate4u or Fakespotters or here informally in the AuthenticateThisMulberry thread, but the answer will be the same.

Thank you for your replies ladies - now I am between a rock and hard place. Purchased from Mulberry Guildford - is there anyway to go back to Mulberry and have them authenticate it? I might never buy a new one again after this experience. Albeit I much prefer the vintage congos and have collected and been through lots of them as my funds go up and down, far nicer when they are a bit battered. Two rescue horses have really curtailed my handbag passion now but they are worth every penny. xx

There is no Mulberry store in Guildford unless you mean it was in a concession or from an independent stockist. Mulberry do not authenticate items and have not done so for a number of years as they made some catastrophic errors. The authentication routes are as I mentioned previously but there is no question that it is counterfeit, unfortunately. If you did purchase it new and when it was current season, it would now be several years old and you would have very little recourse against the store or indeed could prove that the bag you now have is the one you purchased, No record is taken of 'serial numbers' as they are just a design feature. Sorry, this is not what you want to hear.

They used to have a small store in Tunsgate Square Guildford which was directly opposite House of Fraser which is where it came from and you are right it was probably an independent stockist although all it sold was Mulberry and I certainly did not realise that, closed down this year :-( Could not compete with House of Fraser opposite who also sell Mulberry of course. That is hilarious that Mulberry made some catastrophic errors identifying their own product. They should have kept their manufacturing all British and not sub out to other countries such a shame they did that. As far as my bag I don't know what to do now, someone would love to own and cherish it just like I have. It has a value even if it is a lesser one in view of your ruling although I know what I bought and paid. It did have an official Mulberry print receipt too, so the hunt will be on for that but going back to 2012 I have my doubts I will find it.

If that is where it came from, then either the store was sourcing their stock elsewhere and passing it off as genuine, or someone bought a genuine one and took back a counterfeit and then the counterfeit was sold to you. Presuming the store was an official Mulberry stockist, then they wouldn't handle counterfeits to know the differences - that is the reason why Mulberry (and the other brands) don't authenticate because they don't know the differences. Hence, genuine bags have been destroyed in the past as Mulberry stated them to be counterfeit and even now, we still see them repairing very obvious fakes. It is a criminal offence to knowing sell a counterfeit item, so you will need to decide the best course of action.
