Regrets

I regret buying two Chanel bags in patent leather. The leather over the years have become sticky, unusable, changed in color, and I'm thinking of throwing them out. One is in pink, the other black.

This is a sad and expensive waste of money. I wish I bought everything Chanel in either lambskin or caviar.
Oh wow that is so upsetting!! Do you live in a warm climate? Can you sell them at least? I was considering purchasing a patent lady dior but luckily the SA talked me out of it

I would have regretted this too.

all you can do is go forward

It was indeed a beautiful piece!

But yeah, no use crying over spilt milk, but every time I see that Mastercard commercial that goes “you never regret the things you didn’t buy, only places you didn’t go” I’m like, oh contraro, I deeply regret many items that I didn’t buy because I lacked good sense.

Don't throw them out, I would try adding swarovski crystals to the bag. Great evening bags.:)

Warm and humid weather, but I don't think that's the issue because I use dehumidifiers. And all the other non-patent leather bags are good.

I'm glad you have a decent Dior SA who talked you out of purchasing patent Lady Dior. If you like the style so much, get it in lambskin.

I regret not buying Chanel sooner when the ML flap was around $5k and look at the prices now! Also, regret not buying more caviar mini flaps. Lambskin minis are too delicate and show wear quicker than caviar leather. I own one mini flap in lambskin and it is beautiful but rarely carry it. The fact that I have a small collection helps me get over regret as I really don't need anymore bags.

Lived in dry weather for 5 years, humid weather for another 5. But they are in such bad condition, I cannot sell them in my right conscience.

Haven't been able to throw them out yet, so we'll see.

I regret buying larger flaps like jumbos and even most recently the large Chanel 19 and not smaller bags. I guess I couldn't envision the time when I'd need to carry so little... I finally just sold all my jumbos to buy smaller Chanels but the return on larger bags is awful. They definitely don't hold their value like the smaller flaps ...so now I have to ante up a lot more to add to the money i've recouped. Selling my last large flap now, the 19, and now wondering if I'll regret that!

A few years ago I was deciding between the jumbo or the maxi double flap. I felt at the time that the maxi looked too much like I was "going to work" when wearing it so I went with the jumbo. Now I wish I had gone for the maxi! It's such a statement bag.

I think we're in a phase of super small bags, but fashion comes and goes. I would recommend you to hang on to one or two larger pieces in case they make a comeback and you will regret selling them at such losses.

Phones are getting bigger meanwhile bags are getting smaller. To me, this is unfathomable. At the very least, if a bag cannot even accommodate an iPhone, to me it's not a handbag.
