Recommendations for wallet that can hold 12-16 cards?

Yep. (I just realized, the one I originally linked says 15 slots in the description; this one says 17: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/halogen...origin=related-3367354-0-1-1-2-Rich Relevence) It's pretty nice looking, although it's a big wallet (of course). I gave one to my mom for Christmas and she loves it. Also, you can't really tell from the website photos, but the entire wallet will open flat along the zipper. Another option to check out is the Kate Spade Zip travel Wallet; it has 18 slots, but it's not as multi-functional as the Halogen one.
