Hi Ladies, I absolutely am in love with VCA (but only have a few pieces so far), and wanted to start a thread discussing all the different stones that VCA uses in their Alhambra collection. I'm kind of making it my life mission to collection a 5-motif bracelet of each of the stones (idk how...forum.purseblog.com

I am upset VCA is not really using chrysoprase anymore, this seems to be the stone that survives over time. I love green but made a firm decision not to get any malachite due to it's being so fragile and prone to darkening.
Here is what I found:
Ivory is incredibly hard to find, I only found it being mentioned twice in auctions.
Seems like it only was used at the launch of Alhambra itself.
Pink Opal in WG. IMHO it would have looked much better in RG or YG. I see it popping at resale market but it is not really popular - probably because of the metal/stone combination?

Seems like VCA has been producing GMOP YG items previously as well as a part of regular line so I will add those to the list.

And here is the puzzle: this is something which I can't identify.
Any ideas? Even seller does not know what it is describing it as "brown stone". I am quite sure this is authentic.

Actually now that you mentioned it - I agree. This pink and sky blue would be super striking together!
To be honest I've got no idea, this piece is so one-off (although looks quite ugly haha), so it's so hard to ID. Quick google search shows that labradorite looks a bit differently... Looks like it's definitely some sort of rock, not wood, as I've been thinking it may be some old "wooden" series as well but still looks like a stone to me...
I wanted to share another piece which popped at Vestiaire Collective a few months ago and I seriously thought of getting it. What stopped me is the fear of getting into trouble with various customs as the piece was in Europe and I am in another part of the world.
Behold the first sighting of the tortoise shell. It's not the most beautiful piece but OMG, this is a piece of history, it's a museum grade item. My guess it's from the most first pieces of Alhambra VCA has ever made.

Someone got really lucky to buy this piece.
It does look like stone and whatever it is probably needs a good polish. Maybe obsidian, since VCA is replacing TE with obsidian on some of the clips?
Tortoise shell looks fab, but there is no way I'd wear it now. I wonder how many ivory necklaces are out there in collections? You can't buy/sell ivory at all in Hawaii anymore. Not even any exceptions for vintage Ming's ivory jewelry. I wonder if VCA would ever consider using buffalo horn in place of tortoise shell in the alhambra line. It might draw in the horn lovers from H, and is so much more sustainable.
Personally, I would never buy coral, tortoise or ivory no matter how beautiful.
Coral should not be harvested anymore. It will eventually stop.
I am wish they used more “young” stones such as moonstone and labradorite. They would be stunning in the Alhambra line!
