With all due respect I don't agree this is a good generic summary of experience with sellers on that site. The site is just like eBay, only it doesn't offer a feedback score system where you can research sellers. I am sure the site is brilliant IF you are in Japan! There are many many many sellers on there. I understand you had good experience with the sellers you used. But a lot of sellers on there DO NOT take credit cards. I have seen many stated bank wire transfer is the ONLY payment they take. And the sellers I tried to contact NEVER replied to me. I do not want to deal with someone who can't even bother to reply to a mere email inquiry. I can't imagine the hassle and headache when something goes wrong.

Bottom line is do as much as research on the seller as you can. Email them, ask questions, see if they response or not. See if you can understand their English. Make sure you are comfortable with the payment option they offer. And authenticate everything!

I would like to add though that some vendors do request feedback on that site albeit most likely in Japanese.

One interesting thing I found out last night was some vendors also list on eBay under similar names and you are able to do the research that way. The vendor I dealt with has a presence on eBay and Rakuten. Only found out by dumb luck when I saw the same item on both sites and checked the vendor name at the same time.

Only difference is that they have over 23000 listing on Rakuten but only about 20 listings on eBay. There's also more unique and hard to find items on Rakuten.

As far as authentication, I'm not sure if our authenticators are comfortable authenticating from Rakuten due to lack of vendor knowledge, language description and small pix size. Whoever purchases from Rakuten will likely have to rely on their own investigation and knowledge of the product unfortunately.

Yes, you take as you find.
It also comes right back to knowing your item, and being comfortable with the choices and information being presented to you.

Yes, completely agree. You'll have to know what you're buying. I wouldn't be comfortable buying items in which I have no knowledge of. The one reason I would buy fom this site again is due to the unique and hard to find items that are more readily found in Japan. Would like to visit the country one day for a shopping trip :smile1:

I bought a chloe bag from rakuten last july it was authenticated by tpfers. You really have to research because of the language barrier and most items dont have the proper pictures as far as those required for authentication. Im just glad the chloe paraty I got came in excellent condition and is authentic.

hi, just wondering did you use the tenso.com to post your item? or the seller just simply shipped via EMS?
thanks.

In my case the seller used EMS, as have a number of other Japanese resellers I've bought from, never a problem, in my own personal experience - you can only speak as you find.
