Has anyone taken used Coach bags to the retail store to receive exchange credits? How does the program work and how many credits are you likely to receive? Are they worth much toward a new bag? Which types of bags are most likely to receive the most credits? Thanks!

I received this information from a Facebook group I’m in. I’ll post below.

I’ve used this program a few times on bags I no longer wanted and didn’t feel like selling. The “credit” isn’t great and you can only use 1 credit on a new purchase. I also don’t like the fact that if you decide the new purchase isn’t going to work out, if you return, you will lose your credit as well. It has its pros and cons.

I had a bag from the 80s that I had authenticated here and tried to sell on ebay. Over the span of about 2 months, I think a total of 5 people looked at the listing. It was very plain, black and nothing special. I took it in to the retail store (Mike Miller--IFKYK) and got a $40 credit for it. I later saw the bag on the re-loved page and it ultimately sold for $495. It's funny because the bag was in really good condition when I traded it in, so it only needed minimal work. I guess the cachet of listing on the Coach page enhanced its desirability. Haha!!

Exactly -- It sounds very much like a college text book buy back....

At coach retail and online for full price typically. Not outlet and not department stores. You can always see if it works online with sale items as it sometimes does. The credits are available for use online so you can see if they apply to the purchase.

I traded in my bag in July of last year. When I tried to use the credit in October, it was no where to be found online. I called the SA who handled my trade-in and he was able to place my order for me, using the credit. As I understand, the credits are valid at Coach Retail online and in stores.

That is very true. It is random if they show up. The last ones I did all showed up online except for one. That one I had to call a store for my order to use it.

From what I've seen, they resell for MORE than the original retail price! It's often several times the original price.
It depends. Some of the restored are the same price or less than the original price. The upcrafted are always quite a bit more as they have added embellishments to make the bag different/unique. In the end they have to cover their costs for the people doing the work, etc, so though they are a little pricey for the upcrafted--for the ones I keep I don't mind the price in the end as you have a unique item. But I do return them if I do not love them because they are expensive.
