Thank you for all the replies ladies! I appreciate it.

I think I'm better off with rose gold. Rubedo looks pretty but I'm not willing to shell out that kind of money if that quality isn't that great.

i know that it isn't gold or even sterling silver, but it is so very tempting...i did buy one small piece when it first came out, but it was a boring design and I wasn't interested so i sold it. Now that they are coming out with other styles...
I find it more affordable than rose gold, and i have been tempted to buy some rose gold plated jewelry recently, but I simply cannot bring myself to do that. this might be a happy medium for some.
However, if you can afford rose gold, then shoot for that first, that is my opinion :)

I love live live Tiffany, but am disappointed in them for this. The impression it gives is that they're trying to trick people into thinking it's better than it is. They hallmark the 18k, the platinum, the sterling, but they've chosen not to mark the Rubedo as 8k or 7k or whatnot. It's a bummer.

I don't think they're phasing out rose gold, they have many more rose choices than yellow. I think they just don't make every piece in every metal. They have to keep demand up.

I didn't mean phasing out like rose gold is going to be extinct, that was poorly worded, i apologize. i mean that the more they make in rubedo they make less in rose gold. if you look at previous designs before rubedo was announced, there were more rose gold options. i'm not saying theres more yellow gold over rose gold, but comparing the amount before and after the introduction of rubedo.

I think they do it to maintain a certain profit margin. They need to keep demand up for the product but need to minimize their cost. So I see a trend where jewelry stores offer lesser quality materials at the similar price point they had been maintaining.

OH I see what you are saying now, I didn't think in terms of their cost and profit! That's horrible, I was so obsessed with that rubedo ring but now I'm thinking twice about it :(

If you love the ring, you should still get it! It is still Tiffany's and I am sure they will stand behind their product if needbe. The Rubedo is pretty, and it is nice to have another alternative to rose gold at a smaller price point.
