Is brown diamond and champagne diamond the same? I was looking at a window shop the other day at a bracelet with champagne diamonds (they looked like smoky quartz in color) and white diamonds as accents, it was really nice. Very easy to wear all day long imho. I say go for it.

I LOVE colored stones/diamonds. I originally wanted a gemstone as an e-ring but my bf wanted to keep it in the diamond arena (more "traditional" I guess?). I have never seen a brown diamond like Lee Lee's ring but it is GORGEOUS. The color is so sumptuous! I can't wait to see what you end up with!

yes, it is lily25. They sometimes try to divide them into champagne, cognac, and chocolate. I have a wide range of colors that will make me happy, so I just say brown when I'm chatting with jewelers.

I just got off the phone, and my first choice jeweler has a 6+ carat emerald cut in the estimated price range. I really wanted something with lots of facets and fire though to balance out the dark color. I guess I feel like an emerald cut brown diamond will end up looking like a citrine or smoky topaz, and that's not what I want for a solitaire. But they said there's still lots out there in my preferred size/price range. So yay! And thank you guys for the comments. Please keep 'em coming. This is going to be a several month process for me, I think.

I love champagne diamonds! I think it'll be gorgeous!

A lot of jewelers here sell Argyle diamonds (locally mined) which are most commonly champagne diamonds. I saw a chart with color gradings and it was from C1 - C7.. C1 is the lightest champagne and C7 is the cognac. Most of the ones I've seen are rounds and radiants which I personally looove! :)

There's also lots of different types of brown.. orangey, pinkish, yellowish and sometimes it's even more of those colours than brown... So if you're worried that a step cut champagne diamond might look like a smokey topaz , you have the options there to pick the right colour!

HTH!
