I'm plotting an upgrade on my e-ring, and I've loved almost all shades of browns and oranges in diamonds for at least a decade before I ever met my husband. I want a large solitaire, oval or pear, and I'm wondering if anyone here has a brown diamond engagement ring. If so, what are your experiences? Are you happy with it?

While I think white diamonds are gorgeous, warm browns and oranges are far prettier on me. I'm just a bit worried that a sizable solitaire in brown will look really odd as an e-ring.

Any opinions? Help a girl out here?

That's exactly the diamond I was envisioning in fact! Thank you so much! I am happy to actually see one worn. It looks fantastic on her.

Now I have to find the stone. I've been trying to find info on the net, but there's not many examples out there on diamond sites.

gga, are you referring to Argyle diamonds? I knew someone many decades ago who had an Argyle e-ring with champagne diamond accents. It really suited her personality and skin tone to have something different.

Her centre stone was an oval with brilliant champagne side stones. I couldn't tell you the size, but thinking back, it was at least 2 ct....

^ Ooooh yeah! Friend of mine had a very pretty Argyle cognac diamond WiNi. Heart shaped pendant and that baby was B.I.G.

Sounds like a gorgeous idea gga. Unique and fabulous.... just like you ;)

hiya luv! Yes, it was a fancy cognac diamond centre, and i reckon it was huge too, but really can't remember the size. the champagne side stones were a significant size too. All of it was in yellow gold.
Argyle has a website too. I believe they are famous for their pink diamonds as well.....

Yes, exactly!!! I have a three stone ring with a center white flanked by 2 argyle diamonds that are brown with hints of plum in them. But for as long as I can remember, I've only wanted the large solitaire in a colored diamond. Yellows and pinks look dreadful on my skin. But anything in the warm brown range is fabulous on me. So I thought I'd do my final (lol) upgrade as a brown solitaire.

Thank you WiNi and HB! And thank you for the kind words, HB!

You may need to start contacting a few trusted jewelers and let them know exactly what you're looking for and have several different people try and source stones for you.

I have a call into Bock's, which is where I usually start for big stuff. I'm kind of through risking money on anyone calling themselves a small, independent jeweler for awhile.
