Several of the ladies here have given beautiful reasons for preferring it. It looks more natural, effortlessly chic.
I don't care for "sets"....

I like gaps too! Never was a fan of the curved bands, mostly because I'd want to wear it on its own, and also because they look a little dated to me. However, I've of course seen some gorgeous fitted wedding bands, so it of course depends on the set.

I just prefer an e-ring and band not to sit flush because it looks like one ring. I love the gap because it is 2 separate rings that become a perfect set!
