Oh goodness thank GOD. I thought I did something terrible to it without realizing haha but I guess it is just normal wear. I did reach out to them to see if they have any idea what it is and (mostly) how I can make sure it won't get worse. I'll post their reply when I get it!

Did you ever hear back from MG about this? Considering an Argento interior bucket and imagine I could have the same issue...
