Friends,
I am reading a lot about the quality issues and bad experiences of people who are buying LV handbags these days. is that true? I plan to buy a speedy 30 but i am so afraid to get a new one. do you think a preloved might be of better quality. Girls can you please guide me. Thanks.

The older bags are definitely better quality (honestly most designer handbags are a risk quality-wise these days), but if you want to get a classic monogram the light vachetta leather trim on used ones will show age whereas a new one has the light vachetta shade. If you can get one in a boutique and inspect it in person I think it's definitely worth it. I have a monogram Neverfull PM that I bought around 2010 and even now it's still like new though I haven't used it that much. But a heavily used Speedy will show age so a new one might be better.

I would buy new too, but most of all you need to check it before buying or if buying online check it when it comes. I think with all brands and all things there are bad batches, or maybe an item wasn’t made as great as another so just inspect it and be happy with the one you choose. Unfortunately a downside of purse forum is that it has made all of us securitise our bags more thoroughly (I know I do now, and sometimes things that others have mentioned I didn’t even realise or notice). I guess if with all things, there will always be perfections in imperfections. So as long as you love the bag and what. You have chosen then that’s all that matters. Good luck with your speedy purchase and hope you have a great and enjoyable experience regardless new or secondhand.

Thank you friends for all your suggestions. I have decided to buy a new one instead of a preloved.
Unfortunately i don’t have a boutique in the area i live so the only option i have is to purchase it online. when it comes to inspection is there anything in particular i should inspect when the new bag arrives.?

I don't focus on alignment, although some might. I tend to look for anything glaring, like stitches that are missed or frayed, areas of missing glazing, or if the canvas is puckered from being sewed incorrectly, or if the bag looks overly crooked, if that makes sense. Maybe also check that the hardware is bright and shiny. If all looks good, I keep it regardless of where the bag is made or if it has protective stickers on it, although I know that matters to many people. I'm not knocking what others look for and realize what's important to me is different. Just letting you know what things people look for. Good luck!

Thank you so much Loriad
I saw on you tube someone showing her speedy. As per her a mix of both treated and non treated vachetta leather is being used on the newer speedy bags they are manufacturing and as a result one handle of her bag after a few months formed a patina but the other did not. That really scared me.

I would recommend if possible filming when you open it so that if there is an issue they can't claim you did it. A new one is a great choice because the Speedys haven't risen in price as much as the Neverfulls so I think it's good to go ahead and get it. I have no idea about LV treating the vachetta but perhaps you could call a boutique even if you don't live near it and ask an SA about it.

I haven't seen treated vachetta on Speedys, but maybe someone else can speak to that.
