Prince Harry and Meghan Markle thread

I kindly request that all members participating in the MM and Harry thread dial back the vile rhetoric.

I am not opposed to discussing public personas on TPF, including the constant torrent of news surrounding the couple from this thread. But I find it troubling when their looks are being nitpicked apart to a degree that is just not appropriate.

This thread has drawn criticism over the years, and I discussed it at great length with Megs and the mods. I am not looking to close it down, but the vitriol needs to be dialed back.

My personal feelings about hate threads aside, this ultra-negative vibe is something better suited for other forums, Reddit, or elsewhere. I am holding our community to higher standards.

Thanks for reading.

From DM:
64% of a British pole think Harry should be removed from the LoS
Twice as many think William rather than Harry embodies his mother
Almost twice as many think Harry is wrong to criticise the RF as right

Imagine spending the last 3 years, giving interview after interview, issuing countless statements to the press through your high-priced PR firm, publishing a memoir where you point the finger at everyone but yourself, producing a 6 hour TV series where only your side of every story is told, buying yourself numerous awards, showing up on daytime TV to demonstrate what a fun, regular girl you are, showing up on late night TV to demonstrate what a fun, regular guy you are . . . all of this to enhance your public image and create a tsunami of public support and sympathy . . . and it backfires so spectacularly, to the point that your family won't speak to you, you are subject to both the South Park humiliation and, now, poll numbers that show a significant majority of people in the UK want your sorry self removed from the line of succession, the very source of your fame. Clearly, neither Harry or Meghan are very bright because no reasonable adult would have pursued such a strategy. Instead, they are a train wreck, a case study in unintentional brand destruction lol.

We don't know for a fact that she wasn't invited, just what the DM reports, and they are not always accurate. Like everything we've been reading for months. For all we know she could have spoken to KC and said give my seat to someone else, I'll watch from home. Many of us have been in the position of having to whittle the guest list for a wedding, and it's never easy.

Yes we do because that's what her daughter posted on her personal Instagram.

Her reign will not be matched again, I’m sure. But it was a rocky ride at times. She wasn’t always so popular. When Diana died, she tanked in popularity and ‘allegedly’ only went back to London and did a walk about/looked at flowers because Tony Blair advised her to. She was very stiff upper lip and carry on- totally out of step with the British public mood re Diana.

For the only time in her life she chose family over nation and I support that wholeheartedly. Both her and Philip did what they could to be there for the boys.

I feel sorry for Charles, his mother was the last of a bygone era, that in the end the public looked back on with fondness. The nations matriarch.

I quite like Charles and I think after the coronation he will start modernising and streamlining the monarchy ready for a handover to William, working closely with William.
He is in his mid 70’s but is forward thinking. He was ahead of his time with his focus on the environment and organic farming. I don’t see anyone laughing at him now on those issues?

All of this.

"... the public will become quiet and submissive again" (my underline and italics)

They won't convince me.

It's Harry and Meghan that need to keep 'quiet and submissive' NOT the general public, or the public will grow very LOUD and very domineering and may show King Charles the door. We'll be SCREAMING "Don't let it hit you on the way out".
The days of the public being quiet and submissive are long gone.
They were done with that, I think, by the First World War.

Expose all, once and for all. Wipe the smirk off her face and knock down the arrogant snot nosed eunuch husband. Be ruthless and strongly refute what will be their attempt to spin it to be the Royal Family’s fault. Take any action warranted on Titles, LOS.

For the sake of the innocent children, make clear the issue is not because they were surrogate births, but because of the lying duplicity of their parents in trying to cover up something that didn’t need to be, making it tawdry in the process.

How different it could have been if the beech and her handbag had said, they very much wanted a family, had need (we need not have known why) to use a surrogate. Acknowledgment they were working within the Family for the good of themselves, Great Britain, the Commonwealth etc to make certain it was proceeding in everyone’s best interest, especially the expected child’s. I truly believe they would have been supported and the birth celebrated. Instead we’ve had years of snark and crap and the ineffective ruse that was figured out a long long time ago. So weary of them assuming they got away with it. They didn’t.

They are as sickening as it gets and the poll numbers demonstrate the % of the public sick of them. Read the International room King Charles III.

Rant over. I’ll diffuse it by pulling weeds to prep the garden for planting glorious sunflowers to attract the bees again this year.

Going for the jugular seems like a good choice at this point, regardless of surrogate rumours or not.

Wait, hold up, admittedly I am late to the party today [yes, I have an invite :ty: ] -

Are they saying there was a surrogate and the public was deceived???? Wow. No wonder KC wants a slimmed down coronation and monarchy. He may well get thrown out. Cue Sophie and Ed. Imo this is game over.

Sounds like it’s exposure time. If not and I over reacted, will take a deep breath, knowing something else is sure to come up.

I think if the rumor is true that they used a surrogate the BRF has had to know. They’ve got a top notch intelligence agency.

I don’t think surrogacy is bad. I’m in support of it but to go to levels to deceive people is beyond the pale.

The fact that she allegedly made herself look pregnant, wore moon bumps, cradling her belly, and making it seem like she was carrying is straight out crazy, that’s a lie that she can’t live down if in fact it’s true. We don’t know, yet. And KC, I’m done with him. He’s a weak assed King, always capitulating to his son and wife. He’s destroying the monarchy himself.

I think Harry is still in the UK, probably for the Visa requirements.

Yesterday, I saw two sites saying Catherine is pregnant, not reliable sites, and I could NOT confirm, just tantalizing ramifications if the news is true
PS an especially if the surrogate story is going to break/be confirmed.

Let’s not forget her upstaging of Eugenie’s wedding with her desperate attention-seeking. That’s when we got the first cradling of the non-existent bump. IF she had been pregnant then it would only have been maybe four or five weeks. There wouldn’t be a bump, but as someone who has never been pregnant she didn’t know that.
