northernbelle, have you ever looked at the Signed Pieces site?? Try there.....you can leave a message with your Tiffany diamond specs and/or price range. They will call you when they get a ring matching your preferences. Their prices are lower than Tiffany retail.

But, be sure to check out their site too as they usually have two or three Tiffany diamond rings at any given time. They advertise on PriceScope and have a reputation as a reputable dealer of Tiffany and other designer pieces such as Cartier, etc.

It must be small...but if it's the ring you want then go for it! I am newly married...and have a 3 carat marquis...I don't know what the final price was but I do know that it was in the 35k range. If you are looking for quality diamonds I wouldn't buy from Tiffany's. Just my opinion.

So, I'm one of those wacko gals that HAD to have a ring from Tiffany's--I had to! I'd dreamed of it and coveted it and all the rest--I figured, for myself, why buy something LIKE what I wanted--why not get WHAT I wanted. My DH totally agreed with me and was prepared to spend BIG--I, however, was not. My SA was a darling and suggested that I look at something just UNDER or just OVER 1ct. Those "round" #'s are ALWAYS going to be more expensive--so, that's what I did. I've got small fingers that are kind of stubby--so, I opted to go just under the 1ct. mark. I had a dollar amount in my head that I deemed "acceptable" and we came in well under it. In fact, DH was so thrilled with the price we got, that my wedding band ended up being a half channel diamond ring! Woo-hoo!

So, feel free to shop around and also, if you DO go in to T & Co. let them know what you're thinking dollar wise. They are happy to help you find the perfect ring to fit your budget (as are many other awesome places!). Even if you DON'T get your ring from Tiffany's, go in and try some on! It's a blast! Heck, I checked out Harry Winston's when we went ring shopping--just in case! They were super nice and didn't scoff at our budget either!

I am also one of those gals who had to have a classic Tiffany... they are the classic, and for me, the whole experience was worth it. To be honest, their prices were in line with any other branded designer.

It seems the prices have gone up since I got engaged in 2004, but I'm pretty sure we were looking and the 1.5 carats were around $20K depending on color since that was DH's budget.

oh and can i add...the princess feeling does NOT end at the box! every single time i walk into tiffanys, i get that butterfly feeling in my stomach....all of the SA's coo over me and um i get everything polished and reengraved for free LOL! haha seriously if you have ever dreamed of the little blue box go for it...even if it might mean a smaller diamond -- hey that's what upgrades are for right!!!

when i got engaged in 2005, i had to have a Tiffany engagement ring and Vera Wang wedding dress. That was my dream ever since I knew what engagement is all about.

I have a 2.47 G Lucida VVS2, and the price was around $42K. I checked out engagement rings recently at Tiffany and right now the price is up by around 20%. From what i heard, you can bargain with Tiffany and possibly get a 5% discount which is what my friend had gotten when he shopped for a e-ring.

you can get a basic tiffany style solitare at almost any jewelry store now. like some of the posts here said, for some people, it really is just about getting that blue tiffany's box and knowing that your ring is from tiffany's - if that's the case, go and try some one and good luck! but if it's just the general style you're going for, u can get it cheaper by looking around. for me tiffany's just takes out the middleman of having to sift through lots of bad stones before finding a good one. and then they mark up the price for the name and their guarantee. they auto weed out the poor quality ones. as much as i loved tiffany's, i wanted to have a bigger stone of similar quality for the same amount of money!

My fiance just proposed on Xmas Eve with a Classic Tiffany Solitare. Its 1.70 carats, I color, Vs1 clarity and the cost was $24,600. I LOVE my ring and I am so glad that he purchased it from Tiffany. We looked at other places before deciding on Tiffany and I found that even though other stores may say that they can replicate the "Tiffany Setting" its not exactly the same and I know that I would not have been happy without anything but the real thing. I highly recommend going with Tiffany - you will never regret it!

I believe that Tiffany diamonds start at 1/4 carat, so the lowest price on their website must be referring to that. For my experience, I wanted a large stone without breaking the bank, so DH and I got a 2.11 princess cut at a wholesaler instead. It would have cost three times more at Tiffany.

I really have no idea what you'd get with $1140. Mine is pretty small already (0.35ct, F color and VVS1 clarity) and we paid about $5-6K in 2006.

I know I could have gotten a bigger diamond had we gone elsewhere but quality mattered more than size to me. Plus Tiffany offer complimentary worldwide service which is important to me.

Wow. That is much more reasonable than I anticipated.

I've heard the opposite about Tiffany -- that they absolutely will not lower their price for you. Maybe my sorority sister was just unlucky.

I heard the same IntlSet, my SA at Tiffany told me no one gets a discount on diamond jewelry. She's been working at Tiffany for 20+ years and never once given a discount or lowered the price for a e-ring. Maybe that's just the Chicago store though.
