Does anyone know how much this ring:

http://www.tiffany.com/Engagement/Item.aspx?subCategoryid=1001

really goes for when the diamond is of a high quality and between one and two carats and has a white gold or platinum band? The site says the style starts at $1,140, but surely that's only for a teeny tiny diamond, right? This is my dream ring, but I want to know if it's realistic before I get too attached to it.

Thanks in advance!:flowers:

You can call the 800 number and they will call you back usually in a few minutes and you can chat sizes/prices/stones, etc. - they are very helpful and friendly I have found! The price might be for something small -- possibly a l/4 ct?

I love Tiffany e-rings, too, but from what I gather it is not hard to find a very high quality diamond with a six-prong "Tiffany" setting at most jewelers, as this is a classic style. If you're not set on the name, you could probably find this ring for less money elsewhere. Of course, I am also a big fan of Tiffany and usually prefer to buy there, but after seeing the same ring I was looking at in the store for 1/3 the price on Blue Nile, I'm starting to think that there are better deals to be had, KWIM?

My fiance and I looked at Tiffany e-rings (we called several stores) and the prices weren't THAT inflated compared to what we spend on an ideal cut diamond and custom setting. The problem with Tiffany diamonds is that they are usually GIA "good" or "very good" cut-equivalent (but they use some Tiffany certification, which is BS) and I wanted an AGS "ideal" diamond.

$14,000? Really? How does it go up that much from the starting price?

I guess I'll have to let go of that dream...I would feel bad asking for something that expensive...My boyfriend would probably get me whatever I want, but I wouldn't want him doing that...he's a bargain hunter, so he's not used to buying anything that costs more than about $500. Trying to get him used to the idea of $1,000+ handbags:p:angel:.

I don't know if this is true for every Tiffany store, but I know I almost got the very ring you're referring to - my fiance decided against it because Tiffany couldn't supply the quality of diamond he wanted (and he reckons he's bought me too much Tiffany already...).

So, I think the idea of finding something similar at another store would be a good idea - you'll probably get better quality for less.

I looked at a 2.something ct. and I don't remember the color/clarity but it was around $64,000.

Madamestuff, I agree with your point about shopping elsewhere and getting better quality for less, but I'm surprised your fiance didn't find the quality of diamond he wanted. With my ex-fiance, Tiffany had some rings shipped from another store to show us exactly what we were looking for. While their prices are ridiculous, their grading standards are even stricter/higher than GIA so they really do have some amazing diamonds.

Once you hit the 1 carat mark they get very expensive! I've heard Blue Nile is very reputable and pricing can be good - especially if you're looking for something classic.

I'm surprised as well. What kind of quality was he looking for/disappointed by Tiffany from? Cut? Color? Clarity? From my experiences there, the Tiffany store offered to ship in every ring I was interested in from other stores, including some in absolutely jaw-dropping price ranges. Their standards are top notch, even if their jewelry is overpriced.

i have the tiffanys "ribbon" ring just over a carat and im not sure what the final price tag was...but i know his budget was 15,000...not sure if he ended up spending more or less on it lol

BUTTT i must say that i dont care if i was ripped off or what not...whenever i look down and see that rock i feel like a little princess...i dont know about you but ive always dreamed of getting the little blue box, and i got it and i LOVE knowing that i got it ...even if the world cant tell - I CAN, and isnt that what matters in the end?
