Apparently, according to an article I was reading, $6 is the optimum price per wear for a designer bag and the level you should be at before you buy a new one.

I am getting nowhere near this with some of my bags.

My LV Pallas is quite new and it is at $34 a wear - if I wear it every day until the end of Sept 2016, I will be at $6 a wear.

My Chanel is nowhere near $6 and probably never will be.

What bags do you have and what is the current price per wear?

If I were to apply this criteria I won't be able to buy another handbag for the rest of my life!

Anyway, the grand dame among my LV bags is my beloved mono Galleira. She was my very first LV, bought her new in 2008, her $ per use is most definitely below $6.

On the other end of the scale would be my Alma BB in Lilas from last year's Spring collection. Used her all of 2 times so $ per use would be $800.

Wow. That's actually not bad. Especially if you average it across your bags. The daily bags like a NF and Delightful could make up for some special occasion bags that one would naturally not carry as often. I will probably get my NF to one dollar per wear without too much effort. My Artsy noir probably won't get that low ever. $6 is a good target and reachable. Yay, guilt relief. :-)

Thanks for sharing OP
I have always done this for the expensive things that I buy to justify the purchase sadly I still have purses @400+ per wear (i bought about 3 to 4 years ago) and I really have to change this

I have absolutely zero idea. I buy bags because I like them and want to carry them; I buy them for different occasions (I don't carry vernis items to work for example) so some will automatically get more use than others.

Thank you for posting this and all your comments. I thought I was the only person who evaluated cost per wear!

I think $6 is a little low for designer bags. If I hold myself to that, I think I'd go nuts. I don't have a benchmark but I do track what bag I wear every day to make sure I'm getting use of out a bag (if not, I sell it) and to recognize my favorites (and buy more like them.).

Actually for me, I use my more expensive bags far more often than my less expensive bags. Part of that is because I always spend the most on the bags I crave AND have a planned use / need in my wardrobe. That keeps me from buying a $5000 orange ostrich bag with green feathered fringe and pink rhinestones. It may be an "it" bag or strike me as cute for some reason but I know it not "worth" it for me. Better to buy the black leather Chanel or even the leopard skin Prada tote because they will be worn constantly.
