I'm sriously considering purchasing a Vendome Panthere watch pre-loved from ebay - as I love the style and i'm quite picky with what I like. Can anyone tell me how I can see if a seller is reputable? Or recommend other reputable sellers?

Definitely look at their feedback and the percentage of positive feedback they've received. I also ensure that they've been selling on eBay for many years, and they're not just a new member with less than adequate feedback. I also purchased my pre-loved Rolex on eBay and made sure he was a reputable seller. He has 100% positive feedback with over 4000+ feedback left for him.

Agreed. And sometimes they own a brick and mortar jewelry shop where you can read their Google reviews and contact them directly to negotiate a slightly lower price than ebay since they won’t pay ebay fees. I found a watch this way from a highly reputable store.

That was another factor for me. This seller also has a brick and mortar store in California and gave me a one year warranty to go with it. Very honest seller. Plus he sells all pre-owned Rolexes in his shop.

I recently bought a vintage panthere watch. However, im having second thoughts on it. One of them is due to the discoloration I saw on the screws on the clasp. Can anyone here give me an opinion wether or not it is normal for this to happen? I might return it.

Discolouration are normal because Cartier’s 18k solid gold is 75% gold with 25% mix of different alloy. There will be spot of patina in many touch points like crown, clasp, and the case back where it has the most humidity (you will encounter the same “rainbowing” effect among solid gold coin collectors community). When you bring it to Cartier for polishing, they will strip the oxidized part and bring back fresher layer of gold under. I wouldn’t do this often as it will remove some part of gold content.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If anything it will be uniquely yours, just like a Louis Vuitton with patinated Vacheta leather.

yes but i have never seen a discolored screw on a panthere yellow gold watch before. It makes me think that it was an in authentic screw that they used to repair it before

Ah I see what you mean. I wasn’t sure if it’s just shadow or if it’s a different shade. The only way it won’t be authentic if it’s not a solid gold, so maybe you can take both screw out and try to weigh it. Gold is significantly heftier than other metal. You can tell it right away.
