Pre-loved or brand new Chanel bag

Please bear in mind that $1000 under retail looks like a steal because it’s under TODAY retail. A 27 series Jumbo bought in early 2019 cost $1460 less than what it does today (I’m not exactly know the prices in USD but it’s €6,600 now vs it was €5,350 in early 2019). So selling it for $1000 less than retail already gives the seller a few hundreds $ of profit so it’s not even a loss to her/him, yet it is a steal deal to buyers

Having said that, I would always be nervous to buy from individual you don’t really know, without a receipt and don’t accept return. In this case, I’d rather pay more and have a peace of mind.
That make sense. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it a lot.

I agree with the general consensus! While the sale/seller could be legit, $1000 is not a big enough difference to me to be worth the risk. If the bag IS real, you saved $1000 which would be awesome. BUT if the bag is fake ... you lose $3500 or whatever the seller is offering it for ... and you might not be able to get that money back, depending on the form of payment. I also feel the "lost receipt" story is a little convenient/sketch on a bag that's only one year old. I know it totally happens, and maybe the seller was never planning to sell it and threw out the receipt or lost it in a move or whatevs. I don't intend to sell any of my Chanel bags, but I still keep the receipt with the paperwork the bag comes with because they're such expensive purchases. I know not everyone does this and a missing receipt on a bag that was a few years old wouldn't bother me as much, but I would be cautious. :)

The no receipt scares me, especially if the item is brand new and comes with all the other bells and whistles. It sounds like a steal though. Try fashionphile but it will likely be closer to retail :/

Really? No receipt is a concern? Do sellers require to provide store receipt these days? Over the years, I have sold a few of my collection, of course, when I have that many bags (Cs, Hs, Ls) all from department stores and boutiques; another new Chanel is on the way today too! I heard stories of buyers asking for original sale receipt to pass on a resale bag as their own store purchase when they sell it again later. I cannot allow that and never gave store receipts with the bags I sold.

You mean buyers? Yes definitely, and particularly in this case if a seller is holding the bag out as being brand new. If I decide to sell an item I usually make a copy of the receipt and redact my personal information (so there's no way someone could show it to someone else as being theirs). If something is straight out the boutique but the receipt is missing it just seems weird

I would also be wary of “super fake receipts” as well. There are also sellers who make receipts look authentic, but there are small inaccuracies (like tax rate, simple mathematical errors, address, wrong model/color number, etc) that send out red flags. Sharp eyed authenticators will point out the problems. If the seller posts the receipt as well, I would get it checked out here.

Hi All,
I was looking to buy a Chanel Classic Flap Jumbo with GHW in caviar leather in new condition. I was searching FB groups for a nice deal. Found 1 listing (27 series, brand new condition, full set with no receipt, under retail). I need your opinion as to whether I should purchase the bag and save a thousand dollar or buy brand new in store. I heard there's a waiting list for the Jumbo Classic Flap. Is it hard to get it in store? I have purchased a brand new chanel through a reseller before and fashionphile during the shelter in place. Also, what are your experiences buying from a private seller in FB groups since they have no return policy. P.S. I have not yet experienced buying from a Chanel boutique. In the future, I am planning on getting a brand new classic flap medium in store. I will appreciate all of your opinions. TIA.
I would only buy from boutique they put your name on it and it has a warranty for a year. It is not worth $1000 why do people pay so much for used bags? Bags don't last a long time.
I have bought from FP but it was half the price and it was just okay. I ended up selling it right back. I like the way a new bag smells new and you can't clean the bags. I would never buy from IG, Facbook, ebay or even tradsey. There are so many fakes and that would create worse issues unless you know for sure who they are and have a physical store like FP. There are tons of these bags don't get stuck on one. There is always another one.
