I was cleaning out my closet and found my Prada black nylon backpack. I loved this bag back in the late 90's/early 2000's but have not used it in at least 6 years. This backpack was all the rage for a while but I have not seen anyone use it in recent years.

Now, I actually think this backpack will come in handy for traveling or trips to amusement parks with the kids. However, I don't want to be the "that" person using something that is so outdated it's silly. Would you still wear this backpack for those occasions or is this backpack just a "No"?

Thanks!

I actually saw one at a consignment store the other day. It was dark green and they told me it's real, I don't know I'm not an expert but it probably is. I was considering it but having the same thoughts as you. I still see people with the LV backpacks so it could still work I guess, especially on vacations.

The funny thing is I saw someone wearing one the other day (to drop off her child at daycare). I kind of immediately thought, "hey, that's kind of out of date." I know that function is important but I still don't want to be the "hokey" woman wearing an outdated backpack, YKWIM?

I think backpacks are a lot less useful/appropriate once you're out of a certain age range (basically, once you're done with your schooling). My 54 y.o. mother doesn't need a backpack and would look patently ridiculous with one, Prada nylon or not.

I suppose you could save it for one of your children to use as a backpack in the future, since you don't seem to think you'll wear it all that much. Other than that, I would not still keep it.

I'm so glad you posted this thread! I have an LV backpack that I purchased when my kids were little (they are 11 and 14 now) so that I could be "hands free" at parks and museums. I haven't used it in a long time and have been contemplating selling it, but can't decide. Are they still in style and if so, at what age is a person just too old to use one?

So anyone over the age of 25 shouldn't use a backpack :smile1:? I do agree that a 54 year old may look odd with a backpack. Hmmm, so what should a 40 year old mom use for outings to amusement parks and such?

If I loved it I'd wear it!

I love crossbody bags for the hands-free aspect and I wear them despite the fact that most people don' think they're stylish. If it's an authentic bag and I like it, who cares?!

I've never been a fan of prada nylon, not even back in its heyday.

That being said, if you can pull it off and it goes with that you're wearing and is appropriate for the situation, why not wear it? Even though it's a lot less 'popular' now, I don't think prada nylon could be considered outdated because it is so simple and minimalistic.

I still carry mine and I've had it for ages! I use it every summer when we go to LA/Las Vegas for the holidays. I use it when we visit Disneyland and the beaches ... it's durable, waterproof and easy to clean. I use to have 8 nylon Prada bags in various sizes ... the large and small backpacks are the only two I've kept since I use them time and time again. I still think they look good ... I'll keep using mine until they die! LOL

Plus I still see some stores selling them ... it can't be that outdated if stores will still carry stock.

I have a Navy one that my DD (she is 21 and I am 40) just took on a trip to Ireland with her right now.
I can't remember when I used it last :push: But honestly, it's not really that old either ..... the Chicago Boutique still carries them

LOVEEEEEEE my Prada nylon back pack, its been all over the world with me and the best thing about it is that its extremely discreet when traveling through different regions of the world.

I think I need to get another nylon bag.
