I’m considering getting a Prada Cahier in white but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. For any of you that own a Cahier, does it wear well? Does the hardware fade easily?

I’ve checked the pre-loved market, it looks like there are only Cahier with Saffiano leather on the flap head, plus there are not a lot of white bags for sale. While the resale value for these versions doesn’t seem very high, I have no idea what the resale value for this all smooth leather Cahier edition is going to be.

I really love the white all smooth leather look of this current Cahier, so honestly I don’t intend to sell. I’m just trying to rationalize any purchase I make, especially for a bag almost $5k!

I love the Cahier bag, it's one on the few current Prada styles that actually seem very appealing to me. I think it quite timeless. Is it worth the pricetag? I don't know... If you like it and can afford it, then yes, sure. I doubt it would hold its value all that well, though. I don't know how white leather will behave with regards to color transfer and general wear & tear, but I personally would pick smooth leather over Saffiano any time.

That’s a really helpful thread! Somehow it didn’t pop up when I searched for Prada Cahier on this forum so thank you!

Yes I much prefer the smooth leather too even if it’s less forgiving. It looks like Prada keeps increasing their price so that certainly keeps me on my toes haha

Looks so unique. I guess your hardware is matte? Does it hold up well so far?
For the smooth calf leather part, is it easily scratched?

Yes, it’s black toned matte hardware. I‘ve traveled with it and haven’t noticed any scratches so far. One of the reasons I think the Cahier bag holds up well is due to the hardware that wraps around the corner, which is usually where you would see wear and tear. The version I got is also smaller than the regular Cahier style. It only has one gusset (versus two) and has a chain style shoulder strap.
