From all the pics above, that is the SAME thing with the bags that I saw and the crossbodys. I don think they should have sold AS IS - I would go and speak with a manager and see if you can get a store credit bc it is not just YOUR bag -

It wasn't originally an "as-is" item. I saw some scuffs and they offered an additional percentage off. I was aware of dome scuffs but not how easily the handles would "wear". Possibly a lesson learned? I'm fairly knew to understanding thedifference of each ofthe different coach lines...

Leather has peeled/flaked/crackled on regular Coach bags as well (I think the metallic ones). We are lucky to own a brand that stands behind their work and is usually willing to offer some sort of reimbursement when their product fails to meet our expectations. My poppy pocket hobo in dove is having the same problem on the metallic leather, I love that bag and will just deal with it, the flaking doesn't affect the stability of the bag and it's hard to really see it. But if my cobalt gets a lot worse, sadly I might have to take it in because the fading is pretty obvious, only time will tell.

COACH Poppy line was designed for younger ladies. Starting prices are lower than other lines. Perhaps COACH cut corners on making those Poppy products. As a previous owner of Groovy bag, I wasn't crazy about the handles either.

So I did as crazyforcoach09 suggested and spoke with a manager about the wearing of the straps on my Poppy Rocker and she agreed to come in and get store credit (I had just bought the bag less than a week ago).

I went to return my purse to get store credit and I felt so bad...they labeled the bag as "damaged". I found out that pretty much once it's labeled "damaged", they just destroy it. They can't even donate it or anything...it was such a waste. I felt like keeping it just so they wouldn't destroy it.

I am happy that I was able to get store credit and put that towards another bag... :) but sad to know what they were going to do with my Poppy Rocker... :(

my cobalt hippie has areas where the leather is peeling and the short shoulderstrap is awful looking, eventhough I never handle it that way. It is not replaceable and I love the bag, so it won't go back though I think this is clearly a manufacturing defect.

OP, when they sold the bag to you, didn't they give you a little cardboard tag with FS on it? They are usually super careful about final sale purchases.

I have the sapphire hippie that came out before the cobalt - I think almost a year ago. I absolutely love the leather on it. It is a gorgeous color with a slightly metallic sheen and it is super soft. It has not shown any wear. Even though it was relatively inexpensive, I think it is the nicest leather Coach I have ever owned, even nicer and softer than my Parker. I wonder if they are using a lesser quality leather on the new ones.
My daughter's Glam has the silver leather trim, which has turned to a rust color where it has worn, and it is older than my hippie. I know lots of people have had trouble with the leather peeling on the black Glams. It might have something to do with the dye, since it seems to happen more on some colors than others.
Here's a picture of the sapphire hippie:

I have the black leather Poppy Highlight. I carried it almost every weekend during the winter and early spring (and didn't baby it at all) and haven't had any issues with the color rubbing off the handles or body. It's not the thickest, most luxurious leather but it's been more durable than I'd expected. Maybe the cobalt was more prone to the dye wearing off? IDK....

My chambray highlight is 1.5 months old, bought from the C.O. and within the first week the inside patent metallic tag started flaking. The handles are starting to rub too. I am meticulously carful with this bag, I am OCD! I think this is the reason this line of bags went the way of the Outlet stores so quickly.
