I'm about to hit a significant career milestone, and I'm trying to decide what to get myself as a present for achieving it. Part of me wants to add a diamond wedding band to my wedding set, but the other part wants to reserve that hand for only "family" events like anniversaries and the birth of children.

So, I'm curious, when do you add to your wedding stack? I know it's just personal preference, so there's no right answer! Literally just want to know what others do!

Congrats on your milestone  last time I hit one, I got myself a pair of diamond earrings that I wanted for a very long time, my left hand rings are all family related but I like the idea of a right hand ring for personal achievements. Let us know what you'll get :flowers:

I did both. I got a new band/ring for a birth and got a large anniversary ring because I hit a personal milestone.
If it is a reward, I prefer to look at it. It is a boost for me.
What are you thinking to do with your stack?

For me, it’s usually birth, anniversaries, or just because. Congrats on your achievements! I think one of those diamond pave bands would look great between your rings. Or maybe even one of those curved contour bands.
This one is cool

I haven't decided what to do yet! My max budget is around $1.5-2K, but I'm more focused on trying to buy something I will use very frequently, which is why adding to my wedding stack appeals to me a lot. So, I would be happy spending $500 if it means I will actually use what I buy.

I will list the options I'm currently considering, if it's interesting to you! Be warned, I'm a huge fan of small diamond accents because of how much sparkle they add. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea.

  1. A nice pair of solitaire diamond studs from Blue Nile (0.9CTW is within budget). Seems sensible, but right now, with WFH, I'm not wearing earrings at all. My headphones cover my ears during Zoom calls, so there's no point. But, when we go back to the office, I will certainly have to wear earrings more
  2. More intricate diamond studs with a little more ear coverage, like these: https://www.bluenile.com/vintage-halo-diamond-earrings-14k-yellow-gold_60913 or https://www.bluenile.com/diamond-floral-stud-earring-in-14k-yellow-gold_73290

  3. A right hand diamond ring, like these (but in yellow gold): https://www.etsy.com/listing/942770433/round-diamond-wedding-band-diamond?ref=user_profile&frs=1 or https://www.etsy.com/listing/942770433/round-diamond-wedding-band-diamond?ref=user_profile&frs=1 or https://wabashjewelers.net/shop/ols...-pave-round-diamond-wedding-band-ring-size-65
I used to wear a lot of right-hand rings pre-engagement, but I no longer gravitate towards them. Maybe it's just because of all of the handwashing during the pandemic.

  5. Tourmaline earrings to match my ering (because it's my husband's birthstone) https://www.etsy.com/listing/999009...-earring-pair-14k-gold?ref=user_profile&frs=1 or https://www.etsy.com/listing/859745...ser_profile&pro=1&frs=1&variation0=1498941328 or https://www.etsy.com/listing/944867...maline-pair-oval?ref=user_profile&pro=1&frs=1 (would have to get them custom set)

That is one of the things I'm considering! I just don't know how much I'd wear a right hand ring, honestly! But, the nice thing about getting a right hand ring is that it'd be a little larger than my wedding stack so, if I got pregnant and my hands swelled, I could in theory wear that as my replacement wedding band for the pregnancy. I know, planning too far ahead, but I like things to be functional.

I'd love to see the earrings you bought, if you're comfortable sharing!

I think I'd add a diamond band, just to give it a little modest sparkle! I totally agree on wanting to look at it. My rings bring me so much joy!

Thank you! I totally get that. I see the appeal of my left hand being solely for family. Kind of like a collection of my husband's and my life achievements!

This is such a smart idea, im all for good planning so you are sure to enjoy your jewelry a lot!!

Congratulations on your career milestone!

I wouldn’t wear anything on my left ring finger outside of wedding/anniversary pieces, but my other fingers are fair game as rings go where they fit in my world. My anniversary band actually gets worn on my right hand ring finger.
