Polishing/Removing Scratches on Brass?

I just recently purchased my Mono Galliera PM...and just used it 3x and I noticed there's already a scratch on the gold brass plate. Is there any way to improve it like make it less obvious or how to protect it from scratches?

Well I have a galleria gm azur demeri (however you spell it) and had a one inch scratch... actually a dent that looked so ugly across it that you could see the reflection light hit it and made it look even worse like a funny mirror. Anyways I never thought it would come out but after a few years it just disappeared!! I mean it was there just as bad the month before (it didn’t slowly lighten out) and now it’s almost like it was never there. I’m so glad cause every day I used it (3yrs) I hated looking at that dent. So maybe it would just go away like mine, I could show you a pic but the plate looks just as new as I bought it. It just takes time, even with a deep dent across it.

Talk about LV padlock! My 35 came with 1 but I didn’t have the need to use it and kept it in the drawer. Months later it became a rusty padlock. Lol!

Anyone know what this ‘orange peel’ effect is actually called on LV hardware? Can it be fixed? It’s only on the upper portion where the top flap covers the clasp
