I have a relatively new (less than 6 months old) birkin and I noticed that I can just see the top of the two vertical lines of the pocket starting to show through on the back the bag. Is this normal? It is my first swift bag and I don't remember seeing it when I picked up the bag. I have not even worn her yet. I store her in the box, I know not ideal but I store all of my bags in their respective boxes, boxes open for air flow. I checked my other bags and none seem to have this problem. Do you think I missed this when I picked her up?

Doesn’t sound like overstuffing. I do have a Swift Kelly which is turning 10 years soon and I store her laying and standing (I switch about every 2 weeks). I only use one air cushion when she is laying to avoid the front part collapsing. It has perfectly held its shape. However, I am surprised to read that this happened to your bag after such a short amount of time. I don’t have much experience with recent Swift batches, so maybe someone who owns a newer Swift Birkin or Kelly can chime in. Maybe your batch is a bit thinner and softer, but I don‘t think you oversaw this when purchasing. Since I know what you mean, it is pretty obvious and something you certainly would have noticed. I am not sure it is possible to fully get the lines out but at least one could try to avoid it getting worse. Have you looked through the storing your Hermès bags thread?

I use a purse organizer and see two spots on the back of my Togo bag from where the bag organizer meets the back pocket /zipper area. It’s not two full lines down, but I can definitely see it. I imagine it would be more prominent with a soft leather like Swift. Maybe try storing it standing for awhile and gently massage those lines?

My swift Birkin has this although it’s a lot older than yours. I think with use it is somewhat inevitable with swift. Laying it on it’s back especially when stuffed is probably going to make it happen sooner though. To prevent it getting worse for a while at least, try stuffing it less full and keep it standing up.
I think swift is very susceptible to showing imprints of anything that is kept inside it for any length of time and this would probably have happened sooner or later. Just enjoy the peculiarities of this lovely soft leather and don’t worry about it!

Thanks for your advice!:love::drinks::tup:
I have mine imprint ( It's only a few months old) but I don't mind, I love the soft touch!:happydance::happydance::blush:

I have the same 2 spots on my BF bag too. :facepalm:

I store it lying down with a bag cushion inside the 7rp insert. Bag cushion has lots of allowance inside the insert. Since noticing the 2 spots, I have removed the 7rp insert and just leave the bag cushion inside. Should I remove the cushion? It fits loosely in the bag.

P.s sorry for the duplicate post.
I think anything pushing down against the pockets/zipper in the back will cause a dent just due to gravity. If it’s those air packs that comes with the bag it should be fine. But if it’s an actual “cushion” it may cause the dents to appear. I personally don’t store my bags laying down, but that’s just because my bags fit better in my closet standing up. Hope that helps!

Thanks so much for sharing your expertise ladies. How stuffed should my bag be? I am just using the air packs that came with the bag? I always thought the bags were meant to be stored on their back, should I alternate with storing upright?

I think if your bag isn’t very stuffed, it’s just the results of gravity when storing the bag on its back. The type of leather makes a difference, and though it’s not ideal, I am not surprised that it’s happening to swift. If it was epsom, I’d be surprised. I have had this happen with clemence and Togo.
Wow, it happened with Togo too! While I don't mind my swift bag as is, I don't want it to get worse nor do I want it to happen to my togo bags. Has it happened with all of your bags? My collection is newer, so I don't have the experience that longer term collectors have. Has it happened to all of your bags and/or what have you found has prevented in bags you have not had this happen too? I would really appreciate any knowledge you can share,.

I really think it depends on the leather. I haven’t seen it happen with Epsom or Chevre. The Togo bag was truly treated like a workhorse, spent hours in the rain, etc. so the leather really softened, I also think it’s storage. Gravity isn’t your friend if you store it on its back. I also believe bag inserts do it, too, they inevitably push against the front and back of the bag (which is one of the reasons why I don’t use one). Don’t overstuff, either.

Using the air packs should be fine, don‘t worry, as long as you don’t use more than what the bag came with :) The bag should not look blown up.
Maybe try following the advice of some ladies here (store the bag standing) or my approach - 2 weeks on its back, 2 weeks standing. Please note that Swift bags can collapse slightly if you only store them standing. This is why I switch the way I store mine and it has worked just fine. In general when I acquire a new bag, I observe how it behaves over the first weeks and then decide how to store it. Again, every batch might be different but in general yes, most bags could be stored on their back but there is no perfect way to keep every bag pristine, both laying and standing can come with pros and cons and will have a certain impact on the leather and shape.
