I have the same bag in lizard actually so I know a bit about it. It's one of my favourite bags.

This is a re-issue of a 1950s Gucci bag (which one of our members has). One version had a vertical web-stripe.

It came in different leathers and 2 sizes.
It also came in lizard or croco which were special order in the larger size.
It should have it's own special mirror with a interlocking GG on the reverse and a shoulder strap.
Yours is Tuscan boar and was one of the original (1950s) leathers that Florence and Gucci was first famous for

Like the original it is also an ancestor of the Lady Lock and new season's Padlock but it was just called the 'kelly' with lock. Kelly was the style denoting a single top handle on top of a flap bag. Some where I have a pic of the original advertisement.

Thanks for the detailed answer, Papertiger! Good to know its history and how it came to be! Its such a well made bag and the leather is so different from the usuals we see these days.. How do you read the serial code on this bag? Can I know which year and where it was made? I would also love the see the original ad if you have it around..Thanks!!

Hello all!
I have a Gucci bag that I cannot find anywhere! It has now made me doubt its authenticity. Can anyone help me out?
Thank you

Try checking through the all the ref threads including collections. mod pics etc

I don't recognize it either, but there are bags that are made only for outlets that I know nothing about

Can anyone (pt maybe??) give me an estimate on the year this Gucci briefcase came out? I am creating a Gucci end table with it and was just curious. Attaching pics of original tag to help. Hope it does. Thanks all!!

I checked the 50s briefcases. They seem to have the shopping knight stamp and a set-in lock.

This one seems to be a late-60s/Early-70s pigskin briefcase, maybe even bought from the new store in Beverly Hills after it's 1968 opening (?) and very desirable.

Hi I would like to know the name of this bag please. I purchased it at Winners last week. Was it sold in North America? Thanks in advance for your help :)
