Hi I just got this vintage Gucci (thank you papertiger for checking it out)

Can you guys help me determine the age ? I was thinking because of zipper pull its from the 90's ?

This is probably from the very early 1990s (probably 1990 but NOT before) soon after there would have been no gold plaque on the front of the tab.

This vintage shoulder bag would not have had a name. I think it's early 1970s but these bags are really hard to date from only pics as they went from the 1960s-80s. If I find any more info I will come back to this thread and re-quote your question.

I've never seen that design before. Perhaps you can bring it in the Authenticate this Gucci thread because there's something curious about the bag and the experts on that thread can chime in.

I think it might be a 1950s croc bag. It won't have a name just a model number. Obviously, the seller knows nothing about the bag. If I was you I would send pics to Christies Auction House for a valuation (they are owned by Gucci Group) they should be able to tell you more about the bag esp the value. Alternatively, contact someone at the Gucci museum in Florence. Certainly there wont be many around as Gucci was only in Italy at that point. I will try to do some more research for you but not this week.

I think these were just called Horse-bit hobo with webstripe detail (as opposed to Horse-bit chain hobo which has the bit over the shoulder). Purple sounds very 2004 to me, I remember the Cannes Gucci store window that year

Thanks again for your help. I was mistaken & it did not have the webstripe detail. It is the same style as this one, but the gold trim is actually in the metallic deeper purple with gold undertones. Good thing I am not a sketch artist as my memory clearly was not correct!

If I knew how to insert my own photos saved on my computer to the site, I would add them as it looks so much better in purple!

Don't worry our minds plays tricks on is sometimes. Even if it's not with web-stripe it will be around the same year. You will also see mini ones little crescents and dragon-heads (with or without a web-stripe) from the same season.

There is a general ref thread with how to post pics somewhere if need be for next time, it's not difficult, just make sure the pics are not too big in resolution and size .
