I bought this bag at the Fifth Avenue NYC Gucci store in 2004/5/6? I can't remember what year it was but it was during one of their sales. Does anyone know what this bag is called?

I don't know the precise name but it is a mid-00s Tom Ford era bag (prob 2004). TF has his own collectors so that's something to take into consideration.

This is late 1960s/early 1970s (pre-73) It shows a lot of hand-stitching. The suede pouch (pigskin) is originally from a different bag.

I'm not surprised you love it. Lucky you!

It goes to show that good quality suede in a darker colour can stand the test of time just as well as leather.

The hardware is really beautiful and quite ingenious.
Thanks! I suspected late 60's, myself.
I am surprised about the pouch(I assume you're referring to the comb and mirror set), since the lining of it matches the interior of the zippered section of the bag exactly. BTW, it's not suede, but leather. :)

But isn't suede a type of leather? ;)
Well, yes, of course it is. However, when referring to suede, doesn't that usually mean a "fuzzy" texture, as opposed to referring to leather wich usually means a "non-fuzzy" texture?
In other words, the mirror case is not suede, but plain, smooth leather. And yes, it appears to be pigskin.

Yer, it was just a typo, I had been writing about the suede bag and then extended the whole section, sorry for the confusion all.

No problem if you think it 'fits' then maybe your right but these bags did not usually have mirrors or combs which are more in keeping to the framed bags which had hard straight sides to protect the glass. (My 1969 bag not only has a separate pocket but padding both sides of the mirror). You could be right but it would be surprising.

Take a pic of the lining of the pigskin section and the back of the mirror or I can't tell for sure.

I feel that it doesn't really match, too. It's the lining that made me think they actually did because it's the same. Perhaps they used the same lining on some other bags.
At any rate. I'll take some pics tomorrow and put them up :)

dear all, i bought this bag about 2 years ago when i was traveling in Asia. It was a special edition bag and the color was available only in Asian countries, I was told by the SA at the Gucci Boutique:-) I fall in love with the purple and purchased it immediately. However, lately i haven't used it much and wondering if i should keep it or sell it. Any opinion?

TIA
