Since you are looking into pros and cons of stones, you might also want to consider that Guilloche is delicate despite of being all gold. It cant be repaired if the motifs are scratched and hence not advisable for stacking or wearing 24/7. With that being said, don't worry too much about hardiness of the stones/all gold versions - I have had my MOP pieces for 3 years now, I wear them regularly and they look brand new till date.
Have fun choosing the right ones for you! Good luck deciding!
Good point about the delicacy of the guilloche line and the precautions about stacking and wearing 24/7. You definitely can scratch gold ie. love bracelet is prime example of this. Thanks for the tips.

I started with the classic solid gold bracelet! I think gold is a great way to start as any of the other gold/stone pieces can coordinate. Once you visit VCA, you'll have a much more clear idea of what you really love. I think that black onyx and white mop would be my most worn colors. I'd like to add in some color with a bracelet or two, though (like carnelian or blue agate).

The most durable stones are onyx, carnelian, blue agate, chalcedony, and tiger eye. Even though MOP is low on the Moh's scale and can scratch, it is quite durable. The stones that aren't as durable will be better for earrings and pendants.

You also may want to read the care instructions.

Yes, I'm excited to be able to buy my first piece. Thanks for your input and recommendations.

I own MOP, Onyx, Malachite, Chalcedony and the Carnelian is currently is on its way to me. I also have the white gold Guilloche Holiday Pendant. None have given me any problems with the wear and tear (not even Malachite) but then again, I'm very gentle with my jewelry. I do however, wash all of them with gentle soap and water when I feel like they need a bit of cleaning. So far, zero issues with the stones. Onyx does however show smudge more than the others but it's very hearty.

This is good to hear. I too am gentle with my jewelry.
How do you like the Guilloche Holiday Pendant? Does it bling as much as the gold version? Too bad it's sold out everywhere. :girlsigh:

For all you ladies who own the pendants, do you automatically extend them by the 2 inches that is allowed you for free within the first 90 days? For those who don't, have you regretted not doing so? I like my necklaces short in general, usually always wear it on the shortest setting.

Not me. I prefer small pendants at about 17" and the VA pendants are generally about 16.5". I just have one VA pendant, the wg pave one, and I just usually wear it as is or with a 1" extender I have.

Oh I looove my HP pendant! It sparkles like crazy yet it's still casual enough to wear during day time. I'm probably going to buy the YG version at some point this year...I just love that Guilloche sparkle.

So beautiful!!! I am very sorry I missed your question above about extenders, but I see you decided to have your pendant chains lengthened!
Thank you. No worries. I tried wearing it on the shortest setting but felt the vintage sizing was too big on shortest setting so I decided to extend it to give me more options since I didn't like it on the shortest setting.

Congrats! Both beautiful pieces. Do you find the extra chain hanging off annoying when you wear it at 16.5?
