Please help! YG or RG Cartier love?

Hi,

Of Asian descent as well and fair-skinned. I wanted YG to match a tennis bracelet (for special occasions), but wear a RG diamond pendant pretty often. I figured the YG also matches any 24k gold but the SA said RG looks better on me.

Over many years, the RG may lose some of its rose tint and will look closer to YG. Here is a comparison under different lighting conditions. IMG_1492505431.033474.jpgIMG_1492505440.618203.jpg

I'm about the same coloring as you and was having the same issue. I kept going back and forth. I ultimately went with RG because I have a love ring in RG that I wear on the same hand and I do plan on also getting the YG love cuff w/ 1 diamond. It's nice but honestly I think if I had to do it over, I would have been happier with the YG. I think that YG is a classic, looks nicer and stays shinier over time. But I do have to say RG does look really nice on you!!! If you do get the RG just polish it with a polishing cloth every once in a while to keep the pink hue. My SA told me it looks like it turns yellow because it just needs to be cleaned.

I never liked rose gold. It's more trendy and a fad in my opinion. Yellow gold is classic and forever. It glows. I have either yg or wg and platinum pieces.

I agree with this! I love rose gold and have quite a bit of rose gold jewelry, but I think for as long as I'm supposed to enjoy this bracelet, rose gold is a trendy fad right now that may end up looking dated in a few years. Never know though! One thing is for sure, classic yellow gold cartier won't ever be out of style!

I bought my rose gold even when I read some posters complained that theirs faded and has now looked more like yellow gold.
Will take rose gold any day and in the worst case scenario it will just look like yellow gold. So at least I can enjoy the rose gold for however long it lasts!
It sounds like you have a preference for the louder yellow gold that pops more. Most rose gold lovers will just go for it without having to ask...

I agree. Didn't even think twice about yellow gold. I'm also Asian and often tan (which has the slightest red tone) and found that the Rose Gold blended into my skin more. I tend to go for subtlety rather than pop, so it wasn't much of a dilemma.

I have the classic 4 diamond and thin bracelets--both in RG--and love them. I haven't noticed any fading after a year of never taking either of them off. Although it is a popular bracelet, I almost never see other people wearing it in RG, which is something that I like.

Definitely down to personal preference, through. You cannot go wrong either way!

I have RG as well in both Love and JUC. It just suits my skin tone better. I would agree that really coppery looking RG is a bit faddy but the Cartier shade is so subtle you can't necessarily even tell it's RG on some people. A lot of YG looks terrible on me and I wouldn't go near it but again, the Cartier is subtle and if someone gave me a YG bracelet I wouldn't say no.

I have a vast jewelry collection, but over the years I don't own anything RG. They are either YG or WG (platinum). So this Christmas when I buy 2 thin LOVE bracelets, one will be in YG and one in WG. So I can stack them or wear them separately with my other pieces.

Don't get me wrong, RG looks great on me. But I can't just have one piece that I plan to wear 24/7 be different from EVERYTHING else I own.

So that's my logic. I hope you make up your mind and stick to it. Buy it and enjoy it. Don't waiver.:cool::smile:

FYI, I'm also Asian with a light milk-chocolate/ cafe-au-lait colour tan. I have both (a regular YG Love and a thin RG) and love both, with a slight preference for RG. I think YG is very nice and rich and is, as many have said, a classic. I just have a personal preference for the softer glow of RG.

Check out my pics in this thead, post # 113 (note that my VCA Perlee Clover is also in RG):

Asian too. Have both, but vote for YG as it still looks great on my skin after years of daily wear :) RG looks beautiful new, but a bit dull after a while of daily wear... it does look more feminine though.

Bought my YG first, and regretted not buying the RG instead, finally got it and now after 3 years I still prefer my YG more, so if I can only have 1 that is my choice.

Do you have any picture of them side by side? Would love to see both colors after they've been worn. Thanks!!
