This is my first post/thread in The Jewelry Box, so hello everyone!

I received a 100USD Tiffany gift card from my office for my 5th year anniversary, and would like to get a necklace by adding about a couple of hundred dollars.

I'm not much of a jewelry person and have been wearing my white gold and platinum rings on my ring finger and pearl/white gold french hook earrings pretty much every single day. But since I had my hair cut very short two summers ago, I've felt that sometimes it looks rather sad around my neck.:D

I browsed their online store and so far like the ones attached below (sorry about the small pics). I plan to visit the boutique next Sunday, but would love to hear some opinions and advice on them as well as any other suggestions from you all. TIA!!

Graduated bead drop pendant
Elsa Peretti® Open Wave lariat
Elsa Peretti® Pearls by the Yard™ necklace
Necklace of cultured freshwater pearls

Hi Mid-!! I have the bracelet that matches the pearl strand you posted. It's beautiful and the pearls have just the slightest pinky sheen to them.... really nice. However they are pretty small pearls, so if you want the classic strand look these are not the ones- they are more casual looking, I think. The pearls by the yard necklace is gorgeous, I've been thinking about that one myself!!
If I could make a suggestion, check out the graduated bead necklace. I have this and get tons of complements on it. Sometimes in dim/night lighting people thing it's a strand of pearls! The necklace is light weight and comfortable, goes with everything, and is very classic.

Whatever you pick though, you can't go wrong. Just go to the silver section of the boutique and find a good SA (they are usually really friendly when I go to 57th St.) and see what they have. There will be many many more choices than what you see on the website. The Elsa Peretti initial pendants are another one of my favorites-http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/item.aspx?sku=GRP01723&cid=288157&search_params=s+5-p+1-c+288157-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t&selectedsku=18673517&mcat=148204

Have fun!

Hi elle tee, thanks for your response, nice to see you here!

I remember your post about the graduated bead necklace, it sure looks lovely. I think they have different pearl sizes for the strands but of course the larger the more expensive. I hope to see as many items as possible at the boutique.

I've been to the 57th St. boutique only a couple of times but it seems always very very crowded, doesn' it? Which floor is the sliver section located, if I may ask? Maybe I should tour around the entire store.:D

Thanks again!

Owww, did you know that everything that you picked was beady? lol. I guess if any of us have any suggestions for you, we know what kind of things to look for. Btw, welcome to this section of the board :)!!!!

Anyways, i believe the ones that you picked are all great choices based on the little synopsis you gave of your daily and regular jewelry wardrobe. In such a case, for sure, i have the largest hunch that whatever piece you choose to purchase from Tiffany's, it's going to be worn regularly and loved. Now that's important. Nothing is more sad than a beautiful piece from Tiffany's that's unworn. Ok, i need to be hung for saying that b/c that's probably one of the worst crimes i've commited.

That's so wonderful and sweet of your office for their generous token. Congrats on your 5 year there too!! Ok, i'd love to work there too he he!

Ok, so it's time to make your neck look happy! I'm glad you established that b/c a short hair cut your neck deserves a little more attention, often it makes the neck look more delicious ;-D, so lets spice it up. he he!

I absolutely don't like the first choice you made...i think that's a pretty new style and i never liked it. The earrinsg are horrid looking too. hehe, jmho! Amongst the three other choices, if i had to choose one, i'd probably pick the open wave lariet. I think it's stunning that you get to have one of Tiffany's design (the open wave) combined with a classic yet simple pearl. My reasoning why you shouldn't think about the other two is because those are simple and common pieces you could get elsewhere, and for cheaper, unless you like the Tiffany's name. That's just something for you to consider because i'd probably get them even if they were common pieces that were available elsewhere just for the sake of Tiffany's!!

Please update us and let us know what you decide :). SMILES! and welcome again.

If you tour around the store...just don't stop by the e-ring section. It's a pretty dangerous section over there, at least for me:roflmfao:.

Thank you, aquablueness, for your detailed response and kind welcome. Yes, my company has been really good to me and I feel quite fortunate.

LOL, I know I love round and beady stuff. The Open Wave lariat was the design that I liked first, but I didn't know that there were more in the same design. I just did a search and liked pretty much all of it, especially the ring!!

You are right about the by-the-yard and the strands. I've been eyeing on some Akoya strands from another store but thought I might like the Tiffany's as much as the Akoya. I do like the look of the silver bead ones, too.

In any case, I am looking forward to seeing them IRL. Thanks again!!

PS: I don't think I need to worry about e-rings, as I've been happily married for twelve years.

Silver is on the Fourth floor at 57th St., but there are always people standing around the front doors to point you in the right direction, and the elevator attendants are friendly too. The silver floor is usually pretty crowded, so if you can go during the week I would recommend it. On the weekend you'll wait longer for help but they are still very nice there. You can walk around the silver floor and see what is in the cases, if you see a design you like, ask someone what else is in the same collection because there are usually a few styles. I love browsing the ground floor, that's where they have gold and diamond jewelry. When I'm going in for repairs or to pick up a gift, I always have to keep my head down and walk very quickly by the first case on the left, which is diamonds by the yard - my favorite!

Ah, the Tiffany bean!! I didn't know it was still available, must be a classic design by now! Thanks, Kitsunegrl, it brought back memories of my younger days.:D

And thanks again, elle tee! I'm going there on Sunday, so will try to be there when they open (at noon I guess) and look around before the meet-up.;)

Also, the heart pendants are very beautiful. Well, I can't continue. I would love to have every single piece from that line in the sterling silver as I don't wear any gold.

Thanks, gueancla! The more I look, the more lovely items I come across. This is beginning to look a bit more dangerous than I thought...:D
