It sounds to me like you and your DH would prefer to start with a bracelet rather than a watch. I like either bracelet on you, but I have a preference for a bracelet on the arm that does not wear the watch. I did think the regular size love also looked good on you (I agree with @Chaton and others above), but of course your personal preference in size should be the guide. TPFers are acquisitive and like to shop which may explain a forum wide preference for stacks 
. But there is something very elegant about a single piece. The regular love holds its own as a single statement.
Finally, Cartier watches are plentiful and often discounted on the resale market, like certified preowned.( I also adore your choice of the santos). Resale is something to consider especially if bracelets are your first priority.

I’m also one of the few who actually like pieces on its own, hence, the preference for the classic size. I think it makes more of a statement on its own, drawing attention to only one item on the wrist. It’s also true that daintier pieces will look better when stacked, so you can’t go wrong either way!
+1 to the comments above about classic size on the other wrist. How can it be too big on your wrist if you wear a watch that’s 3-4 times it’s size? Anyway have fun deciding, it’s a good problem to have!
I ended up with the classic love! The small juc and love where too tiny for my wrist. I did love the look of the small and classic love together (on the pic I’m wearing them with the small juc but I liked the regular juc better)
wear it in good health! I like the way your love is its not too loose or too tight. I think this is just right.
Congratulations! Looks great on you. Can always add more in the future. There are always birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases, etc. With C, it’s hard to stop at one.
thank you so much!I went with size 17. The sa adviced 16 but that was too snug for my liking. The 18 was way too loose so 17 was perfect.
