I say Rolex. But go with what will make you happy, especially if your heart is set on the Omega and you have been lusting after it.
thank you ladies for all your comments. he is telling me that i am going to regret it once i buy it. we are going to Hong Kong this december and he said I will cry when i see how many different Omega and other watches they have there and how much discount I will get. He keeps on saying $5100 is NOT worth it. I am kinda torn now because I like the watch a lot!
vanessa - it depends on what your boyfriend means, the Omega range in Hong Kong is wider than what I can find back home. As for price wise, I still get a good deal from my authorised watch dealer, be it Omega or Rolex, compared to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, every sally and jane you see from sales assistant to immigration officer wears a Rolex. No offence meant but it's really common in HK. I didn't believe what my husband said until I start noticing, that's when I made up my mind that my new acquisition will not be a Rolex. However, Rolex holds its resale value better simply because of demand. My husband who loves to make comparison on practically everything, said that Omega makes better watches than Rolex. Could it be the reason why James Bond switched from a Rolex to Omega?
Well, if you can wait, just take a look while in Hong Kong and shop around, make comparison before you decide.

I would also point out that I think Rolex and Omega are comparable in terms of workmanship. What you are paying for with a rolex is the history and brand name. They are both excellent watches.
