Hi, I bought a Burberry Nova heart tote from beyondtherack about two years back. Ever since I bought it, I've never used it. So I decided to sell it on ebay. The buyer just received it and told me it's fake. She brought it to the boutique, and the sales told her for sure it's fake. When I received from BTR, I never thought it would be fake. It has been two years since I bought it, and the bag is not with me right now. What should I do?
1. If the bag is fake, can I do anything with BTR?
2. If the bag is real, but the buyer send me back a fake one?
This is my first time selling my named brand handbag on ebay, and this is what happens now.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I'm not an expert on this, but I think it will be best if the buyer was able to provide you with an official letter from an authenticator stating that it isn't authentic. This is just a safety measure for you so that you know you aren't being defrauded.

It would be best for you to ask her to return it back to you and refund her back the money once you receive the shipment. That way, you won't get a SNAD.

As for Beyond the Rack, I'm afraid it's too late to do anything about it. It's already been two years and I'm sure you wouldn't be able to get your money back or anything. I highly doubt you would want to receive merchandise credit if that is allowed if the tote is actually proven to be a fake one.

Thank you very much for your advise.

I don't know of a single designer that formally authenticates at the boutique level.

Since sales associate turnover is high the salesperson your buyer spoke to probably is unfamiliar with anything that 'old' that isn't currently in stock.

Google your buyers address, then Google Burberry boutiques to see if there is even one close by. And if there is one there, she should limit herself to shopping there and pay their prices.

Can you get the bag authenticated here?

Is the buyer from California?

ETA: The reason I am asking is because I just went through a very similar situation. I sold a Burb item, purchased from a legitimate retailer.

She received it and claimed to have taken it to "the Burberry store in LA and they could not confirm authenticity."

It took her over 2 weeks to return and I was petrified that I was going to get a fake back.

Yes, she is from California. Anything I need worry about? How did you deal with the situation?

We don't have the same buyer.

My buyer has different IDs on ebay and Bonz and your buyer is a third ID.

Just tell her to return it in the same condition with any paperwork, etc. that you included. When you verify that it's the same bag, you can refund. Tell her to make sure she uses signature confirmation since it's over $250.

When you get the bag back, do a careful comparison to your pictures to verify that you got the same bag. Then, my suggestion (and this is what I'm going to do) is to pay authenticate4u $7.50 to authenticate it. (They do Burb.)

Then when you relist, you can state in the lisitng that it was authenticated by them and hopefully, you won't run into this again.
