Hi guys.
True enough. I just came home from work and when my husband handed me the cashier check, its fake. There is no watermark and the check has smudges all over. The person has uses photoshop to "clean" out old names. I called the issuer bank and true enough, its fake cashier check. I have attached the scanned picture of the fake cashier check for you all to see. Its awfull!!
Whom should i report to? The return address of this envelope is local.. From Statesville, NC 28677.
Please let me know whom i should go to report this.!

You actually have several options in relation to your almost successful 419 scam. The Secret Service has typically handled calls regarding this particular scambait attempt. You can contact your local field office should you feel the need to report it. By now, our Nigerian friend has changed his name by 3 consonants and is trolling for a new fish.

Pharming, phishing and other identity type thefts are very prevalent. Giving more credence to: if it sounds too good to be true..

Good luck,

-route

Thank gawd i took time to seek everyone's opinion in this forum. My husband was the one who received the check first. and i did not get to see the check until i reached home. True enough, it is a FAKE check... Luckily i have not sent out the item yet.

Hi, I too was approached with this same scam on ebay for an IF bag I was selling. I knew right away it was a scam because I had read about it. I asked my friend who works for the government on terrorist funding operations and he said the government wouldn't be interested in my case because it was too small and the jurisdiction would be all over the map even with a bunch of different agencies since the scams were all over the country. i would not even communicate with them except through ebay and cancel the sale. and send the message through ebay that the money order has been confiscated by the authorities. be very careful.
