hardware color doesn’t matter imo. Here I am in the dreaded leggings/sweatshirt uniform in CA lol
I rarely dress up, I call dressing up heels/jeans/blouse. I wear all my Chanels daily, with whatever I happen to have on. I'm not carrying a clutch with athleisure, but Chanel totes/flaps are all good imo!

No, I do not think so. I think the beige clair itself can be worn casually even with the ghw. I used to own the beige clair with ghw years ago but wasn't in love with the color at the time so I gave it to my sister. And then I started wanting the beige clair again late 2022 so I ended up purchasing early last year but this time with shw for a change and I love it. I personally love the contrast. My sister still loves her beige clair/ghw as well. You can't go wrong either way.
It sounds like you're pretty set on a rectangular flap but are just worried about white lambskin. If you're open to preloved, the 17C ivory white minis came in caviar and edge stitching. Very classic flap-esque with the functionality of a mini
If you're open to seasonal bags, I personally adore the small/mini business affinity. It comes only in caviar, is small and crossbodies well, has a top handle for additional function, and fits more than a mini. I have one in white and it's perfect with casual summer outfits and dinners
If you're looking to add a classic flap to your collection and are sure you want one, I think the small beige flap is a great choice since you have a black reissue already! Although with the double flap, it's definitely more fussy than a single flap and it doesn't sound like it'll be used as much as a mini.
TLDR, go for a caviar mini if you're willing to buy preloved, business affinity or a seasonal flap if you fall in love with one, or beige classic if you're sure you want a classic in your collection

it’s such a perfect beige, neutral that you can’t go wrong with, very useful , can style it up or down…
I personally prefer it with gold and so glad I got it for the holiday before the next price increases that surely will come😂😂

I also like the beige clair with gold hardware. I tried both on side by side, the silver hardware with the beige didn't look right with my skin tone, hair color, wardrobe. It looked washed out. I don't think it's too dressy as compared to the silver hardware. In fact, I use the beige clair more often than the black, I find it much easier to pair with my spring and summer outfits especially.
I may be minority here, but I vote for a white CF w/GHW, then a beige Claire CF (I prefer GHW with this beige shade) and then wait for the right mini to come 😉
I agree with @Swanky here, I am also most of the time a casual dresser, and I wear my Chanel minis and CFs daily as well. I also think hardware on a handbag is more a matter of preference instead of ruling the formality dress code. I usually wear my handbag as a “plus” for my outfit, another beautiful accessory to complement my look, just MHO 😉
Thank you everyone for the advice!! I just returned from the boutique with a beige small classic flap with GHW. I feel really happy about this purchase! I'll wait to unpack it on my birthday next month.
They also had a black rectangular mini with SHW in stock, but I felt underwhelmed trying it on after the small flap in beige. I'll wait for a fun color for the mini, hopefully it won't come anytime soon lol

Could someone please explain me a little bit of background for the color name Claire Beige? I thought this was the official name, but my SA told me it's just Beige and on the tag for my bag it says "Beige". I definitely purchased a classic beige, as opposed to seasonal, as I was assured by my SA and the tag also displays "Rev". So I'm just curious where Claire Beige is coming from, maybe they recently changed it to just Beige?
clair means clear/light in french, so beige clair just means light beige. it's more of just a descriptor since chanel often doesn't give official names to colors or bag styles. Official tags in france for seasonal light beiges likely say beige clair too.
Official color names are usually just "black" "navy" "brown," instead of specific shade names, which is why you'll see us use seasons so often like "21p brown" or "22c light beige." Calling the REV beige, beige clair instead of season + color helps us differentiate that we're talking about the classic beige instead of a seasonal light beige
