Yesterday I went to kays to the levian event just to look. Ok they really didn't have anything much I even kind of liked . I have been really wanting a tiffany yellow diamond since last x-mas and since hanging out here I want a soleste . So levian had 2 yellow diamonds and the kays sa was trying hard to sell me one of the rings but I really did not have the money and did not like the setting because I have my heart set on the Tiffany . It wAs 1 ct not sure the exact specs. and Fy but anyway it ended up being like. $13,000.00. I said I like Tiffany and the levian rep. Was your paying for name I wAs like I your paying for levain name 2. The ring that he had was normally17,000.00 but i wAs getting some discount.Anyhow I really want a yellow diamond but I kept telling the pushy kays sa and the levian rep. Who would put his diamond up against any Tiffany , HW, high end store. I was like whatever but I still don't like the setting to the pushy kays sa.So then he says were having this other event in the other case it's loose stones and settings and brought over a wg single halo setting and I was like yes something like that and the guy from the dana Augustine. He had a

I did'nt see that last part key thing.Anyway I ended up buying the halo setting that came with a matching band and the loose yellow stone and the jeweler that he had with him set the stone and sized it down from a 7 to my 3.50 in an hour before the store closed and he did a great job .Any way I am having second thoughts . I feel we dh & me got ripped off and I know we payed to much . It's just my dh shocked me when he bought it and it was so sweet of him but he said if I feel that way I should take it back. I'm confused my Heart says take it back and wait for Tiffany one and then theres part of me that says keep it afterall is is beautiful even with the key thing in the bottom .oh the ring was bought as a right hand ring . The price is just r
wrong for what it is and I shouldn't settle atleast with Tiffany you pay for name and quality you know what you get. Thanks for letting me vent and sorry this is so long. I will take a picture later

Ok, what's the question? Whether you should keep it? Or whether you got ripped off? You're paying for name and for the fact that it's a fancy colored diamond, which carries a premium no matter where you get it. An extra facet isn't a big deal.

That said, I'd take a Tiffany over anything from Kay in a heartbeat. You're getting a LOT better quality with a Tiffany than anything at Kay, brand name or not. So if you aren't happy, return it, go to Tiffany.

Yes you were taken advantage off, can you return it? It shouldn't cost so much money... you payed more than x3 times what it really costs. Even Tiffany's don't have such inflated prices.

so you bought it for 13k? that's what I gather from your post or was the levian yellow diamond 13k?. If it was in fact 13k for a .5 yellow diamond then yes the price is too high.

I've learned over the past few years of jewellery collecting that you should get what makes your heart sing or what you truly wanted to begin with, don't settle!

Hi, I am sorry I did not get the levian fo$13k. I payed $8k which is still 2 much for the ring I got . I was just wanting to here your opinions since I was driving dh crazy. I am 90% sure i will take it back. Thanks everyone for replying .I didn't know about the brand Dana Augustine.

personally I wanted a tiffany soleste so bad! but with my price range I was only able to get a small (.31) fancy yellow diamond.

I decided to buy directly from a wholesaler at a jewellery show and I was able to keep my colour I wanted (fancy yellow) but triple my carat weight and buy a 1.22 carat yellow diamond ring with .78 tcw of white diamonds for 2 carats total weight! In the end i'm very satisfied with my purchase even thought my first wish was for the tiffany soleste.

whatever you end up with just make sure you are happy and don't let SA's push you into buying anythign if you are not 120% sure :D

Hi, I saw your post with your ring and it is beautiful lucky you I wish I could do like you did and get more for my money but I wouldn't know how

Yes, $8K for a .51 in the specs you described is definitely too much! You can pretty much get the same deal at Tiffany for a better quality stone. The .77 I exchanged was only $10300 before the June increase and it went up to $11600 now, so I am pretty sure you can get a .5-.6 in that price range at Tiffany! Good luck!

Hi Alysha, I was extremely lucky being able to attend a jewellery show, what you can do is try to negotiate with a local jeweller or do some research online with different coloured diamond companies and see if a local jeweller can match the price. if they cannot then perhaps you can order your diamond through an online dealer?

try www.diamondsbylauren.com they have great videos of their diamonds and I have not bought form them by I hear they are great to work with. I believe a few people from here have had rings customer made by them

I think that you and the other ladies are correct, 8k was too much for that stone and I imagine you could probably get tiffany for that same price, also you could check out other vendors besides tiffany like someone suggested diamonds by lauren, I have read good reviews on them. Anyway, it is too much money to not have what you truly want.

Thanks I am going to return it and probaly hold out for a Tiffany even though you are paying for the name . Atleast it is a name that's known i don't think I trust online well enough . The one on the Tiffany sight FI .73 sounds good but price is too high right now.thanks everyone

I had a tiffany on order it was .31 fancy yelllow for 5650 CDN.
there was a .56 fancy yellow for 7800 CDN.

so I think you could probably find something in the half carat range at fancy yellow for 8k or less...have your tiffany SA do a search for you. also if you are in the States (which I just noticed you are!) there's a larger inventory for your SA to search though :D
