Hi all, I would really appreciate your input and any insight into making this decision.
This is probably the silliest 'help me decide' post as the items are apples and oranges. I have a limited budget as I purchased a watch earlier this year. However, I would like to check off one item from my wishlist during my upcoming trip to Japan.
I have wanted the regular Juste un clou bracelet in yellow gold for years now. I think crazy popularity and major price jumps kept deterring me. Now I'm back to wanting it.
The second item in question is a Mikimoto pearl strand. I adore pearls and Mikimoto in Japan is an ideal place to fulfil this wish. I think the stand I'm after will be roughly the same price as the bracelet.
How do I decide? Cartier price increase is inevitable and I am pretty sure it's my last chance to buy but a Mikimoto strand will be a classic. Do you think the juste un clou will age beautifully?
For reference, I'm neither a necklace or a bracelet person. I usually wear a watch and multiple stacked rings and earrings of course.
I will be very grateful for your help.

You said you wanted the JUC for years. I think that you will continue to want it until you check it off your list. Yes, the price will continue to increase. However, the idea of pearls sounds like a great purchase and remembrance for Japan, but only if you're not picking it because it's "classic". It has to be something you really want. It's interesting that you say you are not a bracelet or necklace person. Hopefully you pick something you love and intend to wear often.

In terms of functionality, I would choose the JUC. I wear my JUC everyday— in fact, I sleep in mine and rarely take it off. My mother bought me a strand of pearls for a milestone birthday, and I probably wore it 3 times in the 25 years since I’ve owned it. On the other hand, I knew a woman who wore her pearls daily - no matter what the outfit and pearls are a lovely reminder of Japan. I would really consider which item would fit into your daily use and lifestyle best.

Thank you for your input. I think the reason I struggle to be a bracelet person is because the only bracelet that I currently own is the one with a clasp and I find it so difficult to put on and off - it takes away precious minutes when getting dressed. But its an heirloom piece passed down from my mother, so I absolute love it. See image attached. It is in 21ct gold and is quite chunky which i adore, and I was hoping to stack it with JUC. 93D51DCC-D488-46DF-AC22-34926A8BBBF5.JPG
I do have a few necklaces, and I do wear them often stacked. But ofcourse pearl necklace is a statement look on its own without the need for stacking.
Issue is, I definitely wear necklaces > bracelet.

Has the popularity of JUC been an issue for you? The fact that so many people have it and that its instantly recognisable?

Hi there! Truly believe you should follow your heart, so we can only point you to something.
Since you mentioned you are not a bracelet person – what is your lifestyle? Do you type/write a lot? For example, I don't stack bracelets with my watch (don't want to scratch it), and I can't wear JUC on my right hand because it is uncomfortable when I type – worth to keep in mind if you wanted it to be a 'daily' piece. Pearls might also be very non-daily or daily depending on your style. For going out outfits, a bracelet generally speaking could be more versatile.
RE: resale value (only if that's something you want to consider, never mind if not), I think we are soon at a point where selling JUC might be tricky because of all the fakes, but someone else might know more.
Agree with what was already said – go and see what moves you! Happy travels!

I’m totally not a pearls girl so I’d choose the Juc, but that me! You’re clearly interested in them… is it just because you’ll be in Japan? If I wanted pearls, a visit to Japan would be a fun time to get them!
I have always adored pearls; the lustre and symmetry just melts my heart. It just happens that I am going to Japan, made me realise I have an opportunity to cross it off my wishlist sooner than I had expected. Unless Mikimoto is also experiencing supply shortages, like VCA in Japan.
What truly worries me about JUC is its popularity, which is at an all time high. I have honestly seen teenagers wearing it in my city (London). True, I did not consider how JUC can be scratched so badly by stacking it with my existing bracelet.
